The NASCAR organization awards the NASCAR Manufacturers' Championship to the most successful manufacturer over a season, determined by a points system based on race results. Up until 2013, the points of the Manufacturer's leaderboard were calculated by adding the points scored by the team's/manufacturer's highest-finishing driver. According to the earlier system, the winning manufacturer of the season received nine points, the second-highest finishing manufacturer received six points, the third-highest manufacturer received four points, and the fourth-highest finishing manufacturer received three points.

However in 2014, NASCAR introduced a new system of mirroring the points structure of the Owner's championships. The current system includes the highest-finishing driver for each manufacturer earning the same points the representing team earned during the race, including bonus points.
