American pitcher Dylan Edward Cease was born on December 28, 1995. He currently plays for the Chicago White Sox in Major League Baseball. He was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the 2014 MLB draft. Cease made his MLB dеbut on July 3, 2019, for thе Chicago White Sox and has been playing for thе team since thеn.


He was chosen by the Chicago Cubs in the sixth round of the MLB draft in 2014. After he joined with the Cubs, he had Tommy John surgery to fix his injured UCL. He resumed pitching in May 2015 and was a pitcher for the Arizona Cubs at the rookie level. After the 2015 season, Baseball America ranked Cease as the second-best prospect in the Arizona League. On July 13, 2017, the Cubs traded Cease to the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox placed him with the Kannapolis Intimidators of the Class A South Atlantic League. Cease had 22 starts between South Bend and Kannapolis, going 1-10 with a 3.28 ERA, 126 strikeouts, and a 221 batting average. He debuted for the White Sox in 2019 in the Major Leagues.

Cease was a student at Milton High School. His fastball velocity peaked at 98 miles per hour, although it averaged 91 to 95 miles per hour when he pitched for the school's baseball team. Cease played shortstop in games where he did not pitch. He was 9–0 with a 0.81 ERA in 69.1 innings pitched and 100 strikeouts in 2013, his junior year, when Milton won the baseball state championship. Additionally, Cease participated in a second consecutive state championship series, but Lambert High School prevailed.
