As a competitive Pokemon player, knowing about the best Doubles teams in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet VGC Regulation I is important. Not only will the knowledge help you climb the ranked ladder, it will also help you devise strategies and counters. The Regulation I meta started on May 1, 2025 (12:00 am UTC) and will be active till August 31, 2025 (12:00 am UTC).
This is the ninth format for the Scarlet and Violet meta and will be used for the 2025 World Championships. The most noteworthy part of this format is that it will allow up to two Restricted Legendaries out of a team of six.

This is one of the best Doubles teams in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet VGC Regulation I as it is built around Calyrex-Shadow and Zamazenta-Crowned as the Restricted Legendaries. The duo provides a solid Ghost/Fighting-type STAB core, a type combo that is unresisted by most combinations. Additionally, Zamazenta has Wide Guard to protect the team from any incoming Astral Barrages.
The rest of the team is very standard. Incineroar and Rillaboom provide Fake Out support, Ogerpon is one of the best re-directors in the game thanks to Follow Me, and Urshifu breaks through Protect thanks to its ability Unseen Fist.
2) Miraidon, Lunala, Chi-Yu, Whimsicott, Iron Hands, and Urshifu-Rapid Strike
This team is built around a core of Miraidon and Lunala. Lunala holds an Electric Seed to boost its Defense, which is activated by the Electric Terrain set up by Miraidon’s Hadron Engine. Lunala also provides Wide Guard and Trick Room Support for the rest of the team.
Iron Hands is one of the key members of this team, enjoying the boost from Electric Terrain and having 0 Speed IVs to move faster in Trick Room. The other members are mostly solid mons doing their usual jobs like Prankster Whimsicott for Tailwind and Encore support, Unseen Fist Urshifu to break through opposing Protect, and Scarf Chi-Yu to act as a revenge killer.
3) Koraidon, Terapagos, Flutter Mane, Incineroar, Rillaboom, and Ogerpon-Cornerstone
The team has a core of Koraidon and Terapagos around which the rest is built. Terapagos and Koraidon work together to overwhelm their opponents by dealing massive amounts of damage. The two Restricted Legendaries utilize an aggressive style of play, with the rest of the team working to support them.
Flutter Mane is another fast damage dealer, while both Incineroar and Rillaboom provide Fake Out support. Incineroar also punishes contact moves by holding a Rocky Helmet, while Ogerpon-Cornerstone does something similar thanks to Spiky Shield. Besides that, Ogerpon acts as a redirector using Follow Me, Flutter Mane uses Icy Wind for speed control, and Incineroar continues to be the best mon in VGC thanks to the various ways it acts as a support.
4) Calyrex-Shadow, Terapagos, Incineroar, Urshifu-Rapid Strike, Rillaboom, and Ogerpon-Hearthflame
In this team, the two Restricted Legendaries are Calyrex-Shadow and Terapagos. To avoid getting hit by opposing Astral Barrage, Calyrex can Terastallize into a Normal-type. Alternatively, Terapagos can utilize Stellar Tera, which it is the best user of, for massive damage.
The others in the team are the usual suspects. Incineroar as a support, Ogerpon as a re-director, Urshifu as a revenge killer, and Rillaboom to set up Grassy Terrain for healing while also providing Fake Out support. Three of the team also have pivot moves (Parting Shot on Incineroar and U-turn on Urshifu and Rillaboom) to bring their teammates in. This is usually done after Ogerpon redirects an attack or an opponent is flinched with Fake Out.
5) Miraidon, Calyrex-Shadow, Dondozo, Tatsugiri, Sneasler, and Chi-Yu
While this team has Miraidon and Calyrex-Shadow as its two Restricted Legendaries, it also has the duo of Dondozo and Tatsugiri. When Dondozo and Tatsugiri are both on the field, Tatsugiri goes inside Dondozo and gives it two Omni-boosts (+1 in all stats). Also, when Dondozo uses the move Order Up while Tatsugiri is inside, it gets an additional stat boost while attacking. Tatsugiri-Droopy gives it a Defense boost, making it a suitable choice for tanking attacks.
Additionally, this team uses Electric Seed Sneasler, which pairs well with Miraidon. Sneasler also gets a one-time boost to its Speed when the Seed is consumed, thanks to its ability Unburden. Chi-Yu rounds out this team as a Scarfed revenge killer.
