Born on August 27, 1992, Carissa Kainani Moore is an Olympian, activist, and skilled Hawaiian-American surfer. She made history in 2020 when she became the first woman to win an Olympic gold medal in shortboard surfing. Her other outstanding accomplishments include winning the World Surf League's (WSL) Women's World Tour in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2019, and 2021. Moore is also the first surfer to win an Olympic gold medal and a WSL world title in the same year.

Moore will be defending her gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will also be her last competition as she plans to retire and start a family.
