
Bonnie Blair was a highly ranked former speed skater who turned professional in 1984. She won one gold and one bronze each in her second appearance at the 1988 Calgary Olympics in 500m and 1000m. At the 1989 Heerenveen World Championship, Blair won a gold medal in the sprint category. Her next big victory came at the 1992 Albertville Olympics, where she claimed two gold medals.
