
Derrick Mein (born August 26, 1985) is an American sport shooter from Paola, Kansas. He started shooting sporting clays at age 8, joining his father in a local league. Mein went on to have immense success across multiple shotgun disciplines - sporting clays, skeet, trap, international trap, and helice.
He has won national titles and earned Team USA honors in helice, international trap, and sporting clays. Mein is a two-time NSCA National Sporting Clays Champion (2017, 2020), a 15-time NSCA All-American, and a former member of the Professional Sporting Clays Association.
He represented the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in an international trap. In 2020, Mein was also the ATA Grand American AAA High All-Around Champion and the NSSA World Skeet 28-gauge runner-up. He attended Kansas State University on a shooting scholarship after starting at Lindenwood University on a dual baseball/shotgun scholarship.

Derrick Mein's Early Life and Shooting Career
Derrick Mein grew up on a small farm in southeast Kansas and developed a love for the outdoors at an early age, going quail and deer hunting with his father. He got started in sporting clays at age eight, joining his dad in a local league. With his father's guidance, Mein began developing his competitive shooting skills.
He has been a member of the National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) since 1995, winning 13 state championships in Kansas. Mein has also led the USA Sporting Clays Team to multiple team world titles over the years.
His shooting talents earned him a dual scholarship at Lindenwood University for baseball and the shotgun team initially. After transferring to Kansas State University to study Animal Science, from which he graduated in 2008, Mein won the ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championship covering multiple shotgun disciplines.
