Joshua Yuan is a 20-year-old Badminton player, who recently booked his berth to debut at the Olympic stage in Paris. He qualified for the men’s doubles event with his partner Vinson Chiu. Yuan is currently ranked no. 41 in the world in the men’s doubles events.

He was in third grade when he visited the Bay Badminton Center with his father and wasn’t interested in the sport. However, after attaining encouragement from his parents, he began playing the sport at the same center. He then moved to Synergy Badminton Club, where he was coached by Olympians Bob Malayathong and Raju Rai. He trains three to four days a week and has squared off in multiple competitions.

Yuan’s expertise is in the men’s doubles from the very initial days of his career and has won a total of 53 wins in both men’s doubles and mixed doubles. In the 2024 season, he competed in various competitions such as Kapal Api Indonesia Open 2024, XXVII Yonex Pan Am Individual Championships where he claimed the third position alongside his partner Vinson Chiu, Yonex Swiss Open, Yonex All England Open Badminton Championships, Yonex French Open, German Open and multiple others.

He reigned in the Uganda International Challenge where he attained the second position with Chiu. The first place was claimed by M.R. Arjun and Dhruv Kapila. In 2023, he competed in the V EL Salvador International where he again stood at the second position with his partner, and claimed the third position in the III Mexican International Challenge.

He claimed a silver medal at the XXV Pan Am Individual Championships 2022 in the doubles event and is a two-time bronze medalist at the XXVIII Pan Am Junior Championships in the doubles and the BD U19 events.

Joshua Yuan is currently competing at the Yonex US Open 2024.
