Growing up, Kerry and Annie played various sports including ice skating and swimming. However, they decided to pursue badminton at the age of eight. They slowly excelled and by the age of 12, the two were already winning championships. At the 2014 Pan Am Junior Championships, Kerry and Annie Xu secured a gold medal in girls' doubles. The following year, at the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships, they added another gold medal to their impressive achievements.

Their success continued and in 2019, they decided to take a break from badminton to focus on their academic careers. They took a job to support their Olympic dream. In 2022, Kerry and Annie resume playing, aiming to participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics. Their hard work paid off when the Xu sisters qualified for the 2024 Paris Games.
