Maka Unufe is one of the experienced rugby players who has been representing the United States for over a decade. Unufe started his high school career at Provo High School, where he played as a wide receiver. He made a seamless transition to rugby and started playing for the Utah Warriors in 2011, and was named in the All-Tournament team. In the same year, he participated in the Pan America games in Chile and secured a bronze medal for the team.

The 6-foot-1 and 210-pound center bagged another gold medal in the 2015 Pan America Games in Toronto. In the 2016 Rio Olympics, rugby made its return after almost a century. Unufe was selected to Team USA’s 12-man roster for the 2016 Olympics games but the team finished in ninth place. After he was banned for testing positive for Heptaminol in 2018, Unufe returned to the Eagles Sevens Team in the 2019/20 season. Since making his debut for the national side in 2011, Unufe has appeared in 255 games and accumulated 367 points. At the age of 32, he remained at the top of his game and earned a selection to the Eagles Sevens Team for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
