Nick Rusher is a professional American rower. Born on June 10, 1999, in West Bend, Wisconsin, Nick grew up in a family with a background in rowing. Both of his parents and his elder sister competed in the Olympics. Initially, Nick was passionate about swimming. However, during high school, he switched to rowing, following the footsteps of his parents.

Nick enrolled at Yale University where he competed in the fifth varsity boat. He won multiple titles including the varsity eight at the Eastern Sprints and IRA National Championships. In June 2024, Nick was selected in Senior U.S. Men’s Eight and all set to represent the United States in the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Jack and Cindy Rusher, parents of Nick, competed in the 1988 and 1992 Olympics. His father Jack earned a bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics rowing. His mother, Cindy, achieved a silver medal at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona.

Nick started rowing during high school at St. Paul’s School. Initially, he practiced on a pond that was frozen in thick ice. He and his teammate had to break the ice with sticks and sledgehammers to practice. At the 2023 Eastern Sprints, he helped Yale win in the varsity eight, adding to his previous wins at the 2022 Eastern Sprints and IRA National Championships. He also won a gold in the third varsity eight at the 2019 Eastern Sprints and silver in the eight at the 2017 NEIRA Championships.
