5 Reasons why WWE has no interest in signing CM Punk
Back in 2014, CM Punk appeared in the Royal Rumble match that was eventually won by the returning Batista. This was the last appearance of Punk inside a WWE ring. He left the company immediately after and is still 'retired' around 5 years later.
Over the past few years, fans have consistently clamored for Punk to make a return to pro-wrestling. When All Elite Wrestling came on the scene, the hopes of Punk's fans rose again, and many speculated that he will make his return at AEW's first show, Double Or Nothing. Nothing of this sort happened, and there's still no word on whether Punk will ever make his return to pro-wrestling. Recently, it was reported that WWE has no interest in bringing back Punk.
Let's look at 5 reasons why WWE has lost interest in one of the biggest stars of his generation.
#5 Punk's interview with Colt Cabana
Months after leaving WWE, Punk finally spilled the beans on his WWE exit and took a string of shots at WWE, Vince McMahon, Triple H, and many others. Punk stated that WWE's doctors took his medical condition lightly. His biggest gripe was that he never got to headline a WrestleMania, which was a goal he had set for himself.
I’m the f****** happiest I’ve been in at least three years. I thought this thing that I loved, that I thought I loved, it just made me so miserable all the time. When you boil it all down, I was miserable. I was unhappy. F*** it, I made myself happy. I left. It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but it was also a long time coming.
The Cabana interview took the pro-wrestling world by storm, and the things Punk said in the sit-down could be one of the major reasons why WWE has no interest in signing him at this point.
