5 Things that could happen if Edge challenges Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37

Roman Reigns vs. Edge could happen at WrestleMania.

Following an impressive performance from No. 1, Edge won the 2021 Men's Royal Rumble Match and is going to WrestleMania. He could possibly face Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship, but reports are indicating that Edge will go after Roman Reigns and Universal Championship.

This would mean that The Rated-R Superstar moves to SmackDown, but there is a lot more that could be possible if he does go after Reigns. This might just be the biggest match WWE could book for WrestleMania, especially considering the grit shown by Edge in every one of his matches since his sensational return last year.

Aside from Edge's return to the Blue brand, several things could happen. Some of them are related to the feud he could have with Roman Reigns, with others being based around WrestleMania consequences and the possibility of Edge winning the Universal Championship.

Here are five things that could happen if Edge chooses to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37.

#5 Some fantastic storytelling between Edge and Roman Reigns leading up to WrestleMania

If Edge moves over to SmackDown to challenge Roman Reigns, the Blue brand could go up a level. The show has been great, but this story is likely to elevate it into a must-see TV show every week. Edge has mentioned how he actively wants to tell better stories in his current WWE run, with his promos attesting to that.

The 11-time world champion has knocked it out of the park every time he has spoken on WWE TV since returning. This is a possible result of the creative control he has on his own promos. Roman Reigns has also been brilliant as a heel and is the best thing in WWE.

He is fully deserving of a headlining spot at WrestleMania, preferably on Night Two. The Universal Champion has told excellent stories against the likes of Jey Uso, Drew McIntyre, and Kevin Owens recently. There is no way the build to this possible WrestleMania match could be anything less than spectacular.

Both, Edge and Reigns will ensure that they are at their very best for this program. There are so many layers for a potential story between the two, from Edge wanting a world title after he never lost it to Roman Reigns doing everything possible to keep it, to Edge wanting to free SmackDown from Roman's reign of terror.

#4 Daniel Bryan could face either Seth Rollins or Big E at WrestleMania

With Edge likely to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 37, this leaves Daniel Bryan with another opponent to face at The Show of Shows. The Leader of the Yes Movement would have been a perfect opponent for Reigns at WrestleMania, but WWE might choose Edge instead.

There are still plenty of options for Bryan at WrestleMania, with various SmackDown Superstars possibly going up against him. The two likeliest names he could face at 'Mania are Seth Rollins and Big E. Bryan was eliminated from the Royal Rumble by Rollins, so there's an easy way to start a feud between the two.

Having not had a proper singles feud with each other yet, Bryan and Rollins could have a series of in-ring classics against each other, with the blowoff coming at WrestleMania. Meanwhile, he could also challenge for the Intercontinental Championship. A title he barely held.

Daniel Bryan has constantly spoken of his vision for the IC title. That vision is somewhat shared, to an extent, by Big E. A match between them would be fantastic, as has every in-ring confrontation they have had over the years. Plus, a WrestleMania victory over Bryan would do wonders for the singles push of Big E.

While a match against Roman Reigns would have been perfect, there are other fun options for Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania. Edge going after the Universal Championship does not affect him much.

#3 Edge and Christian could team up against two members of The Bloodline on the Road to WrestleMania

With the storytelling capabilities of both men, the build to Edge vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania has the potential to be legendary. With Christian making a surprising return to the ring at the Royal Rumble, WWE could reunite the two friends for a huge tag team match before The Show of Shows.

Edge and Christian could team up to face any two members of The Bloodline. It would preferably be The Usos, the greatest WWE tag team of this generation. However, both of the twins are out injured at the moment. Jimmy Uso could be back at any moment, but Jey Uso's injury is undisclosed and there is no timetable for his return.

With that in mind, a tag team match pitting Edge and Christian against Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso would be perfect for Fastlane. The event is scheduled for three weeks before WrestleMania and the feud between Edge and Reigns will have likely begun before then.

It would be quite a surreal moment to see Edge and Christian team up again in a WWE ring, especially since Edge retired in 2011 and Christian retired in 2014. Captain Charisma could go on a part-time run and hopefully, WWE considers this colossal tag team match for the Road to WrestleMania.

#2 Edge could become the only Superstar to win all three world titles in WWE at WrestleMania

While the previous options focused on the story between Edge and Roman Reigns heading into WrestleMania, this one is based on the possibility that the WWE Hall of Famer wins at the event. As an 11-time world champion, it is no surprise that Edge has won both, the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships multiple times.

This allows him the chance to make history at WrestleMania as long as he faces Reigns. Edge could become the first Superstar to win all three world titles that have been a part of WWE. The Rated-R Superstar is a four-time WWE Champion, while he has won the World Heavyweight Championship seven times.

A Universal title victory at WrestleMania would make Edge the only man to achieve this historic feat. A few Superstars like Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan could complete the trifecta as well in the future, but Edge might be the first to do so.

It is extremely unlikely, based on how strong Roman Reigns has been for months now, but imagine if Edge actually won the Universal Championship. It would be one heck of a moment, worthy of headlining the first weekend of WWE shows with crowds back. The run he could go on would be interesting, to say the least.

#1 Edge could replace the Universal title with the big gold belt if he wins at WrestleMania

While Edge becoming the first Superstar to win all three WWE world titles at WrestleMania would be a fact, this is merely a fantasy. But while looking at the eerie nature of the story, it has a chance of happening. Edge retired on April 11th, 2011 as the World Heavyweight Champion.

He could become the Universal Champion on that very day, exactly a decade after having to vacate the big gold belt. Fast forward to the post-WrestleMania episode of SmackDown, and Edge could talk about his world title legacy. He could take the phrase 'continuing where I left off' in a completely literal sense.

After regaining the world title ten years from his retirement from WWE, The Rated-R Superstar may bring back the World Heavyweight Championship as a replacement for the Universal title. It would be a legendary moment and Edge is the right man to do it, since he is the Superstar who is the most synonymous with the big gold belt in WWE.

The Universal Championship is merely a colored version of the WWE Championship and it lacks in creativity, which is why fans have been vocal in wanting the big gold belt back. It has a beautiful look that reeks of (awesomeness) prestige. It would be quite a sight to see Edge as the World Heavyweight Champion on SmackDown in 2021.

Whether this dream scenario happens or not, the next few months are extremely exciting. If Edge and Roman Reigns are set to face each other for the Universal Championship at WrestleMania 37, we better strap ourselves in because it is going to be one hell of a journey.
