5 Things that should happen in WWE in 2019 and 5 that should not

Everyone wants to see this mixed tag team in action once again
Everyone wants to see this mixed tag team in action once again

WWE has got off to a fiery start in 2019 as they have been able to draw back the lost viewers in the last few weeks and they are now seriously pushing the fan favorite superstars.

Last week on RAW, we saw the unexpected rise of Finn Balor who won 2 matches on the same night to earn a shot at Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship. While WWE also revealed the Women's Tag Team Championships this week much to the joy of the WWE Universe.

Also, this past week, WWE listed the 10 things that the WWE Universe wants to see in WWE in the year 2019. However, not all of them are what the fans want. So here, I have listed the 5 things that the fans want and the 5 they don't

#1 The fans want - A Horsewomen vs Horsewomen showdown

Make this match happen as soon as possible, Vince!
Make this match happen as soon as possible, Vince!

Looking at the things listed, it seems like 2019 will once again be the year of women in the WWE and the WWE Creative seriously has some big plans for the female superstars. Out of all the things listed, the one which excited me the most was the Horsewomen of WWE vs Horsewomen of UFC feud.

To be honest, this is the rivalry that every wrestling fan wants. A showdown between the best of the WWE and the best of UFC. Just imagine the atmosphere of the arena where the fans will see Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair teaming up together to take on the team of Ronda Rousey, Shayna Baszler, Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke.

This match should take place on the Survivor Series PPV as it will give the WWE an opportunity to book an elimination tag team match. Also, looking at the way WWE had built the women's feud at this year's Survivor Series, expect them to come up with another brilliant one to book this match.

#1 Should not happen - WWE introduces an all women's show

It is impossible to imagine a RAW episode without the female talent
It is impossible to imagine a RAW episode without the female talent

While I am not against the progression of the women's division, the only thing I fear here is that the female superstars will receive bookings just like the Cruiserweights.

Remember how the 205 Live superstars used to be a part of the RAW roster back in 2016 but when WWE launched the Cruiserweight exclusive show, they decided to limit the high flying action to that one show only.

If the same thing happens with the female superstars, then the RAW and SD Live episodes will become unwatchable. Imagine how boring a 3-hour long RAW episode with just all male superstars on it.

The female superstars add variety to the roster and are one of the integral parts of it. So, in my opinion, an all women's show must not be introduced by WWE in 2019.

#2 Should happen - The first ever Queen of the Ring tournament

This tournament can take place at WWE Evolution
This tournament can take place at WWE Evolution

We are all aware that WWE has added an all-women's PPV to its calendar and WWE Evolution is expected to take place in 2019 as well. The pay-per-view exceeded expectations in 2018 but the only one thing that I did not like about the show was the Women's Battle Royale to earn the #1 contendership.

I know the WWE Creative booked this match to make sure each and every female superstar gets a place on the card but the stakes were just too high for a returning legend to win that thing.

In my opinion, a one-off tournament like the Queen of the Ring would certainly have been a better option and WWE should use it in 2019.

Having like the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Michelle McCool, Maria Kanellis battle in a Queen of the Ring tournament will only make things more exciting and unpredictable than the battle royale, where the fans know that a regular TV star is going to win it.

#2 Should not happen - Mustafa Ali winning the WWE Championship

Just not this year, WWE Creative Team!
Just not this year, WWE Creative Team!

It has hardly been a month that Mustafa Ali has made his debut on SmackDown Live and crowning him the WWE Champion on the blue brand might just be too early.

Ali's push should be perfectly planned as the Cruiserweight star has a lot of potential and can seriously exceed limits if booked properly.

If Mustafa Ali wins the WWE Championship this year, the result will just be Mustafa becoming the next Jack Swagger or the next Jinder Mahal, who were pushed to the moon very quickly.

Perhaps, a reign with the United States title or feuding with some top heels of the company like Samoa Joe or Randy Orton who will help Mustafa grow as a face character and then in 2020 the WWE can make efforts to make him the WWE Champion.

#3 Should happen - Drew McIntyre winning the Universal Championship

Drew McIntyre's character will be affected a lot if this does not happen in 2019
Drew McIntyre's character will be affected a lot if this does not happen in 2019

While Mustafa Ali just moved to SD Live from 205 Live, Drew McIntyre trained hard in NXT before moving up to the RAW roster and so, the Scottish Psychopath should soon become the top heel of the company.

WWE can even McIntyre to be the one who will finally slay the Beast at WrestleMania 35 and win the Universal Championship. Though McIntyre is loved by very few fans, a lot of fans will enjoy this moment as the terror of Lesnar will finally come to end.

Drew McIntyre can feud with the likes of Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Bobby Lashley and other stars for the Universal title. This will not only solidify McIntyre as the top guy of the WWE but will also help in increasing the prestige of the WWE Universal Championship.

#3 Should not happen - Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey main event WrestleMania 35

We also want Charlotte Flair here
We also want Charlotte Flair here

Ronda Rousey vs Becky Lynch was undoubtedly the feud of the year 2018 but unfortunately, the dream match between the two female superstars did not take place as Lynch was ruled out with a concussion 6 nights before the match.

However, it seems like WWE are trying to rekindle that rivalry and they might have Becky Lynch win the Rumble match to challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women's Championship at WrestleMania 35.

The only thing wrong here is Charlotte Flair's absence. Flair has been one of the key parts of the women's division.

Also, she had developed a rivalry with Ronda when Becky was away and so it makes sense to have both Charlotte and Becky main event WrestleMania 35 along with Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women's Championship.

#4 Should happen - Team LayCool return to challenge for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship

Now, this can make things interesting
Now, this can make things interesting

WWE has introduced the WWE Women's tag team championships but the one thing that the Creative team would have in their mind is the lack of depth in the division.

If we look at the tag teams of the women's division, we have the likes of The Riott Squad, the Boss 'n' Hug Connection, Nia Jax and Tamina Snuka, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville and the IIconics. The number is even less than 6 and so the WWE might need to bring back their former superstars to boost the division.

Talking about women's tag team division, the one name which comes to every WWE fan's mind is the team LayCool. They had won the tag team championships (earlier when they were active in WWE) and were one of the best female tag teams of the company.

Maybe, a showdown with the first ever Women's tag team champions would be the best way to mark LayCool's return as it would even grab more fans' attention towards the division.

#4 Should not happen - The Miz and Shane McMahon winning the SD Live tag team championships

No! Just No!
No! Just No!

The Miz and Shane McMahon have surprisingly formed a tag team on the blue brand of late and the Best tag team in the world are set to battle for the SD Live tag team championships at the Royal Rumble PPV.

Looking at the build to the match thus far, it looks like WWE are planning to crown Miz and Shane O' Mac the tag team champions of the 'B' show.

This title change should not happen as Shane McMahon, as we all know is a part-timer who rarely wrestles and crowning him the champion of a talented tag team division will just be a step back for the division.

It will be better if either The Miz or Shane McMahon turn on the other guy after they lose their match at the Royal Rumble PPV as it could lead us to a WrestleMania match between the two.

#5 Should happen - John Cena and Becky Lynch participate in the Mixed Match Challenge as a tag team

The tag team the WWE Universe wants!
The tag team the WWE Universe wants!

The second season of the Mixed Match Challenge was quite underwhelming and if the WWE wants to maintain its Facebook audience for the inter-gender tournament's 3rd installment, they need to include the tag team of Becky Lynch and John Cena in the tournament.

Their tag team match was one of the most talked about matches of 2018 and so, the WWE Creative should not shy away from booking them as a tag team.

John Cena and Becky Lynch's tag team would definitely draw more viewers to the Mixed Match Challenge III and also keep John Cena around WWE for a few weeks.

The WWE can also book a dream final for the 3rd season between John Cena/Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair/AJ Styles if they consider putting John and Lynch's tag team as a participant in the tournament this year.

#5 Should not happen - NXT gets involved in Superstar Shake-up

AJ Styles wrestling on NXT can be the weirdest thing a WWE fan can imagine
AJ Styles wrestling on NXT can be the weirdest thing a WWE fan can imagine

NXT is without a doubt the best show produced by WWE and the developmental territory always beats the main roster in terms of storytelling and in-ring action.

WWE can always introduce NXT as their third brand and have them fight with RAW and SD Live for brand supremacy but involving them in a Superstar Shake-up will be a step back for the yellow brand.

NXT develops the superstars in order to give them a dream career on the main roster but not every NXT star has emerged successful. Also, NXT is the place where new signees are given in-ring training and match practice and involving NXT in the superstar shake-up may force the WWE from keeping its new signees away from TV.

So, to conclude NXT can be used as a third brand of WWE but at the same time, it should retain its position as the developmental territory. If NXT gets involved in the superstar shake-ups, there will be no such thing like main roster and developmental territory, which may hinder the fans' excitement for the product.
