WrestleMania 35 is in the bag and I think the show delivered what it promised - great action, wins to fan favourites, and the right number of surprise returns, who actually added value to the storylines.

The headlines will show that Becky Lynch became the first woman to hold both RAW and SmackDown women's titles at the same time, while also being part of a match where women headlined WrestleMania for the first time, alongside Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey.

Kofi Kingston finally completed his quest as he won the WWE Championship after defeating Daniel Bryan.

Seth Rollins, who kicked off the main show when he faced Brock Lesnar, also triumphed, winning the Universal title for the first time, in a very surprising result.

As I mentioned before, WWE did a lot of things right at The Show of Shows. Let's take a look at 5 things WWE did right at WrestleMania 35:

WrestleMania 35 Results, Winners & Video Highlights

#5 John Cena's segment with Elias and the return of The Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick

Before WrestleMania 35, one of the big questions that were left unanswered was John Cena's role at WWE's biggest show. Many fans were hoping that he would be the one who would face Kurt Angle in the Olympic medallist's final match in the WWE, but that wasn't to be.

We got something better and totally out of the blue. Cena returned with The Doctor of Thuganomics gimmick at WrestleMania 35, returning to interfere Elias' segment. Cena wore Yankees legend Babe Ruth's jersey as he made his way to the ring and delivered an incredible rap, disrespecting Elias, much to the delight of the fans.

Although there was no build to this feud, WWE struck gold by bringing back a popular gimmick like The Doctor of Thuganomics.

#4 Nixed Undertaker return

Ahead of WrestleMania 35, as has been the case over the last few years, everyone wanted to know what The Undertaker's role at The Show of Shows would be. His match against John Cena at WrestleMania 34 last year was underwhelming, to say the least, and we're glad WWE did not go down that route this year.

The Undertaker is a legend and shoehorning him into the card just to get a few cheap nostalgias pops belittles the great character that The Undertaker and WWE have built over the years.

The Undertaker was in the MetLife Stadium, but was backstage with his family, taking in The Show of Shows from the comfort of the VIP boxes.

The Deadman is probably winding down his career and next year's WrestleMania may be where his final match may take place. The build for that will mostly begin at the end of this year or around Royal Rumble time.

#3 Short matches

WWE have, in the past, been guilty of elongating their matches for no rhyme or reason. which have bored fans more than kept them wanting more.

We're glad that WWE changed that for WrestleMania 35. Despite the card having 16 matches, some of the matches flew by, while there were a few that disappointed and were a drab.

Finn Balor brought back The Demon, and was dominant in his match against Bobby Lashley, winning back the Intercontinental title in just over 4 minutes, while Seth Rollins' victory over Brock Lesnar took just 2 minutes and 30 seconds.

Only three matches crossed the 20-minute mark and all three matches delivered a compelling story - the triple threat match between Ronda Rousey, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, Triple H's No Holds Barred match against Batista, and Kofi Kingston's match against Daniel Bryan, which was probably the match of the night.

The other matches were in an around the 10-minute mark, which was ample time to put the story across to the viewer.

#2 Enthralling storytelling

The New Day
The New Day

One thing WWE got right at WrestleMania 35 is the way the wove the storylines for a few of the matches, keeping the audience gripped.

A fine example was the match between Daniel Bryan and Kofi Kingston. Throughout Kofi's dream Kofimania run, one thing that's been a constant is his never-say-die, never-give-up attitude, that was shown once again at WrestleMania 35. When Bryan hit his trademark cornerpost dropkicks, it looked like the end was near for Kofi. But The New Day Superstar persevered and fought back, even telling Bryan to kick him following which Kofi countered. There was an ebb and flow to the match.

The Triple H and Batista match was quite interesting as WWE used Ric Flair in the storyline once more, as the WWE Hall of Famer returned to avenge Batista as he gave Triple H a sledgehammer which led to The Game's win.

WWE even continued a storyline from last year's WrestleMania as Cena attacked Elias, who had interrupted him during WrestleMania 34, when Cena was awaiting The Undertaker.

#1 Babyface wins

The WWE Universe was hoping and praying that their three heroes and favourites - Becky Lynch, Seth Rollins, and Kofi Kingston would all be crowned champions, and that happened.

Most fans weren't expecting all three of the babyfaces to win as WWE usually likes to swerve and surprise the fans, but that wasn't to be the case this time.

And WWE did not put the titles on the three just to get a cheap pop from the WWE Universe; all three of them deserved it for the hard work and dedication that they have put into the WWE over the last year or so, while in the case of Kofi Kingston, the last 11 years.

One common trait between all three Superstars' rise to the top at WrestleMania 35 is that all of their pushes were organic; i.e. the fans made it happen.

It will be interesting to see what WWE does in the future - will Kofi Kingston's reign as WWE Champion be a long one? Will Seth Rollins have to put down the title for The Big Dog, Roman Reigns? Will Becky Lynch have to step aside for Ronda Rousey? Time will tell.
