Well, it's been one hell of a decade for WWE. So much happened and the current landscape of the company, as well as the wrestling industry, looks vastly different from what it did in 2010.
The decade began with a boatload of star power within WWE's riches, with John Cena and Randy Orton deep in the midst of their consistent runs at the top of the company as well as the likes of Triple H and the Undertaker among others in the final stages of their full-time careers in the ring.
WWE had to begin making new stars and they did so to some extent, with many names rising to the upper mid-card. But it was difficult for Superstars to break that glass ceiling. A few succeeded, while others kept on coming close.
Over the decade, many Superstars have been a mark of consistency, whether they were below that glass ceiling or firmly went through it. Here are the ten WWE Superstars with the highest number of championship reigns, from the start of 2010 until now.
But first, a couple of points to note:
- Superstars who were champions in WWE at the start of the decade will have that title reign included in their total.
- Only main roster championships are being considered, so no NXT or NXT UK titles.
- No mention of the 24/7 Championship, otherwise R-Truth would be leading this list by a country mile.
#10 Big E (9 titles)
No Superstar has made this list by only winning the Tag Team Championship, but Big E has been mightily close in doing so.
He is the only member of the New Day to be a part of every single one of their seven tag title reigns, with Xavier Woods getting injured and Kofi Kingston in the middle of his WWE Championship run earlier in the year.
Big E also picked up the Intercontinental Championship in 2013, back when his name still had Langston in it. However, the muscle of the New Day will forever be remembered for his antics in tandem with Woods and Kingston.
His ninth title was the NXT Championship, which he won in December 2012.
It has been a decade to remember for Big E, particularly the second half of it.
#8 Randy Orton (9 titles)
One of the most consistent performers of the decade has been Randy Orton, staying around the top of the card for the entirety of the 2010s.
He cemented his legacy over the years by winning multiple WWE and World Heavyweight Championships, including when the titles were unified in 2013.
The Viper also picked up tag team gold with Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper as well as the United States Championship a couple of years later, to become a Grand Slam champion.
This was a solid decade for Orton, whose best work came in his 2011 program with Christian.
#8 Daniel Bryan (9 titles)
A lot has been said about Daniel Bryan already, as the greatest WWE Superstar of the decade and his inclusion on this list proves it. Bryan has won a championship in every single year of this decade he was an active competitor and the best part is, he made everything work.
He won everything there is to win in WWE, with his most memorable triumph coming at WrestleMania 30, where he overcame ridiculous odds to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Whether it was with the US Title in 2010, the Tag Team Titles with Kane in 2012 or the eco-friendly WWE Title at the start of 2019, Daniel Bryan has been consistently spectacular as a champion throughout the decade.
#7 Charlotte Flair (10 titles)
With ten title reigns under her belt, Charlotte Flair is the only woman on this list. She came onto the scene as part of the 'Diva's Revolution' and won the Divas Championship before the title got replaced by a more prestigious prize.
At WrestleMania 32, the Queen defeated Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch to win the re-introduced WWE Women's Championship. After branching out to RAW, she would win the title three more times during her feud with Banks.
Charlotte dominated the SmackDown brand, winning the Blue brand's top female prize five times. This leaves her with ten championships to her name, just six away from her dad's record of 16.
What a decade for WWE's top female Superstar, especially considering she debuted on RAW in July 2015.
#6 Sheamus (11 titles)
Sheamus began the decade on top, holding the WWE Championship at the start of 2010. This was a sign of more success to come, as the Celtic Warrior won 3 more world titles in WWE. This includes his infamous 18-second victory over Daniel Bryan, at WrestleMania 28.
The Irishman also picked up the United States Championship twice. However, his biggest success of the decade might just be in the tag team division. Sheamus formed a successful team with Cesaro in the latter part of the decade.
The two of them, known as the Bar, went on to win five Tag Team Championships, four of them being on RAW. Despite injury issues, Sheamus has been consistent throughout the 2010s.
#4 Dolph Ziggler (12 titles)
For the majority of this decade, Dolph Ziggler had been touted as one of the most underutilized Superstars in WWE history. During that time he did capture a good amount of gold, most notably the World Heavyweight Championship.
However, following a concussion, the Showoff had to settle for a consistent presence in the mid-card title scene. He won six Intercontinental Championships, with the most memorable one coming against The Miz, at No Mercy 2016.
His other accolades include two US Titles and two RAW Tag Team Titles, shared with Drew McIntyre and Robert Roode in the past two years.
Ziggler will never reach the massive heights that he could have, but he remains a solid and reliable presence in the ring for WWE.
#4 Seth Rollins (12 titles)
Contrary to popular belief, Roman Reigns is not on this list. He has seven championships to his name this decade, while his former Shield buddy, Seth Rollins, almost has double of that.
The Architect held tag team gold five teams, alongside the Big Dog and Dean Ambrose among others. He held two championships at the same time on three different occasions, with the most famous of them coming after his victory over John Cena at SummerSlam 2015 to win the US Championship, as well as retain his WWE Championship.
Rollins is also a 2-time Intercontinental Champion and won the Universal Championship the same number of times, defeating Brock Lesnar twice in 2019.
Love him or hate him, Seth Rollins has been magnificent over the 2010s and hopefully, he can keep it up in the coming years.
#3 John Cena (13 titles)
John Cena entered 2010 as a 7-time world champion. In the decade since he has more than doubled that tally. Cena won the top prize of the WWE on 9 more occasions, defeating the likes of Batista, The Rock, and AJ Styles to do so.
Aside from his ridiculously consistent stay at the top of WWE's mountain, the Leader of the 'Cenation' also held tag team gold for a combined total of one day, with David Otunga and The Miz.
However, the thing that fans likely remember the most from Cena in the past decade might be his run as the United States Champion. He conducted weekly open challenges, putting on excellent title defenses against various up-and-coming stars like Sami Zayn and Cesaro.
That is the legacy that John Cena leaves us with, as his WWE career is slowly coming to a permanent end.
#2 Kofi Kingston (14 titles)
Kofi Kingston had a crazy decade for sure. He started 2010 near the top of the card, but a miscue in a match involving Randy Orton sent him tumbling down the card. And thus began his dominance of WWE's midcard.
During a period of three years, Kingston won a couple of US, IC, and Tag Team Titles each. But a move at the end of 2014 changed his career for good, as a 'New Day' dawned on him.
As part of the incredibly successful New Day, the Ghanaian Superstar enjoyed seven reigns with the tag titles, including a record-breaking 483-day stint. But Kingston's greatest moment of the decade was his WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania 35, without a doubt.
A steady first half of the decade was followed by a spectacular second half, showcasing Kofi Kingston's incredible persistence over the years.
#1 The Miz (15 titles)
Despite the excellence of a lot of names already on this list, one man stands alone with the most championships between 2010 and 2019 -- The Miz. It started when he waltzed into the decade as the United States Champion.
By the end of 2010 itself, The Miz was the WWE Champion. While his reign was not entirely memorable, the A-Lister can still claim that he defeated John Cena in the main event of WrestleMania.
Aside from that, The Miz captured the WWE Tag Team Championship four times and most notably, the Intercontinental Championship eight times. It was his time as IC Champion in the latter years of the 2010s where the Awesome One truly proved his worth as a top tier Superstar in WWE.
He won every possible title over the decade and perhaps shockingly, has been a champion every single year in the 2010s. So despite a poor 2019 for him, The Miz truly had an awesome decade.
