You will need Filters in Dune Awakening if you plan on setting up a base and carving out a sustainable life in the harsh setting of Arrakis. Granted, it will take you some time to set things up, as you'll initially use Blood to get Water, but eventually, Windtraps will become your go-to method for Hydration. This is where Filters come into play.
Three types of Filters can be fitted to your Windtraps. Each offers better filtration (in a sense) and allows the device to function without issues. Here's everything to know about Filters in Dune Awakening.

As mentioned, there are three Filters you can craft: Makeshift Filter, Standard Filter, and Particulate Filter. The first two can be used on small Windtraps, while the latter is meant for large Windtraps. Both Windtraps will harness moisture from the air to turn into water, but the larger variant has more storage capacity.
If you plan on making basic Windtraps, you'll need the following resources for each Filter type and a Survival Fabricator to craft them. Here's the list:
Makeshift Filter
- Steel Ingot (x3)
- Plant Fiber (x5)
- Water (x60)
- Time (x15s)
Standard Filter
- Aluminum Ingot (x5)
- Plant Fiber (x10)
- Silicone Block (x4)
- Water (x120)
- Time (x15s)
For Large Windtraps, you'll need a Particulate Filter. This must be crafted using the Survival Fabricator. However, the resources required are more scarce and hard to come by. Here's the list:
- Duraluminum Ingot (x6)
- Plant Fiber (x15)
- Silicone Block (x8)
- Spice Residue (x30)
- Water (x340)
- Time (x15s)
Alternatively, if you don't feel like crafting a Filter, you could always buy it from other players. It will cost you a pretty penny, so ensure you have plenty of Solari to spare.
Are Windtraps worth using in Dune Awakening?
A Dew Reaper Scythe or a Fremen Deathstill is the best way to get Water, but Windtraps are not all that bad, especially if you don't play 24x7. They collect Water even when you're offline as long as your base has enough power to keep them running. Just remember to keep them outside, and not within four walls.
In theory, if you play a few hours a day, every time you log on, you'll have more than enough Water to fill your Literjons and head out to explore Arrakis. If you're in a Guild, you could even share the surplus Water with whoever needs it. This would allow others to focus on tasks that could help your House win the Landsraad.
