Smackdown opened with an eight-man tag team contest

This week’s Friday Night Smackdown aired from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania as the WWE universe witnessed an eight-man tag team match, a patriotic arm-wrestling competition and a huge tag team main event. With nine days left for the Night of Champions pay-per-view, here are the results from the show.

Big Show, Mark Henry and The Usos vs Goldust, Stardust, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan

The night opened with an eight-man tag team match which featured no.1 tag team title contenders Goldust and Stardust teaming up with members of the Wyatt Family against The World’s Largest Athlete Big Show, Mark Henry and tag-team champions The Usos. With the match reaching an intense point, Big Show knocked out Goldust with the KO Punch which allowed Jey Uso to climb up onto the top rope and deliver a Samoan Splash for the victory.

Winner: Big Show, Mark Henry and The Usos

Bo Dallas vs Justin Gabriel

Despite his verbal back-and-forth with Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter after the opening bell rang in his match against Justin Gabriel, the inspirational Bo Dallas overcame the South African Superstar with the Bo-Dog. Then, when Dallas taunted The Real American after the contest, the two came to blows and “America’s Sweetheart” was sent packing.

Winner: Bo Dallas

Paige vs Summer Rae

With the always unpredictable AJ Lee joining the SmackDown announce team, Divas Champion Paige made Summer Rae tap out using AJ’s finishing maneuver, the Black Widow! When Layla attempted to take issue with the titleholder after the match, though, AJ cut her off at the pass and hit her with her adversary’s Paige Turner.

Winner: Paige

Mark Henry and Rusev in an arm wrestling contest

Mark Henry vs Rusev – Arm Wrestling match

Even though The Ravishing Russian Lana dedicated Rusev’s Arm Wrestling Contest against Mark Henry to Vladimir Putin, The World’s Strongest Man defended American by cleanly beating his foreign adversary. Rudy Charles was the referee for this one. During the first lock-up, Rusev’s hand slipped. Henry won after they locked up a second time. Lana argued with the ref, who then spoke with Cole. Cole said Rusev and Lana asked for a rematch, one in which they both use their left hand. Henry obliged.

As Henry was about to win, Lana threw the weightlifting chalk in Henry’s eyes. Rusev kicked Henry in the back of the head and had his hand raised by Lana. As Henry got back to his feet, Rusev gave him a jumping side-kick for good measure. They replayed the chalk throw, and Lana did some nice acting there before she threw it. Also replayed was Rusev’s side-kick.

Damien Mizdow and The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler and R-Ziggler

Taking a page from the playbook of his Night of Champions No. 1 contender The Miz, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler arrived for tag team action alongside his own “stunt double”: “R-Ziggler.” And in the height of that action, as the referee was trying to get the “Moneymaker” out of the ring, “R-Ziggler” hit “Damien Mizdow” with the Zig Zag, allowing The Showoff to pick up the win.

Winner: Dolph Ziggler and R-Ziggler

Byron Saxton was backstage with Nikki Bella. Nikki claimed she had been the victim all along and said it was Brie’s fault that Jerry left on a stretcher Monday night. She said she needs to focus on her Divas Title match. It helps her forget that she ever had a sister. A.J. came onto the scene saying Nikki had weaseled her way into A.J.’s title match. Paige walked up and pretended to forget Nikki’s name, focusing on A.J. instead. All three walked away separately, and Nikki remarked that she thinks winning the title could be easy.

Chris Jericho leaps from the top rope on Randy Orton during the main event match

Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins and Randy Orton

After unleashing a furious attack on both Seth Rollins and Randy Orton, Roman Reigns engaged “The Architect” in a furious brawl outside the ring — leaving Chris Jericho and Orton to finish the contest one-on-one.

But just when The Viper was attempted to hit the hanging DDT on his prey, Y2J countered and rolled the time World Champion up for the huge win, gaining major pay-per-view momentum.

Winner: Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns
