Undoubtedly, the highlight of Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 was Taiyo's unyielding resolve. Covering chapter 3 from Hitsuji Gondaira's manga, the episode brought to life the iconic manga panels. Besides that, the episode contained a few anime original sequences.

Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 highlights: Taiyo vows to get stronger to protect Mutsumi

Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 kicks off with Taiyo Asano waking up from a nightmare where he saw Mutsumi in danger. After getting up from bed, he steps on the Yozakura family's house cat, Goliath's tail.

Later, Taiyo requests Futaba to help him get stronger. The white-haired girl replies that although they intend to train him eventually, it will take some time, considering he doesn't have the Yozakura genes.

However, Taiyo says he wants to acquire the means to protect Mutsumi as quickly as possible. Yet, Futaba sternly tells him that he can't get strong overnight.

According to Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3, although Futaba specializes in Aikido and Jujitsu, it took her three years to master them. She reveals a normal person would require more time.

Yet, seeing Taiyo still adamant about it, she tells him that he can start training in the Yozakura Family style in earnest, but under one condition: He has to live in the mansion for one month. Futaba wants to see what Taiyo is made of before they commence the training.

Taiyo confronts the various traps at the Yozakura Family mansion

After telling Taiyo to live in the Yozakura mansion for a month, Futaba assures him that he can go about his daily life and think of his stay as a rehearsal for the actual training.

However, Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 reveals that the Yozakura Family's mansion is filled with several spy-training traps, from trapdoors with sound sensors to infrared sensors.

Futaba tells Taiyo Asano that training is part of the Yozakura family's day-to-day lives. If he cannot handle something so simple, he can never go through the real training.

Taiyo wonders whether he can survive even one day at the mansion. As such, Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 showcases Taiyo Asano going through his life-threatening daily life in the Yozakura household.

The next day, he wakes up to the sound of the alarm, which gets blown up after ten seconds. Futaba reveals that it's also a part of the training, where he has to wake up at a moment's notice. Mutsumi is worried about her fiance's life, while Kengo is already planning his funeral.

When Taiyo asks Mutsumi how she can live just fine at the mansion, the girl reveals that the traps don't go off on her. According to Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3, once the house accepts someone, the traps get deactivated for them.

Futaba elaborates that a computer controls every spy trap in the house. Once Taiyo clears every step, he will be recognized as a family member, and he can turn on and off the traps at his will.

Suddenly, Taiyo gets a funny feeling in his stomach. Futaba says that he cannot even let his guard down while eating since meals are also part of the training. Everyone except Mutsumi's meal has slightly poison mixed in them to build tolerance.

Taiyo runs toward the bathroom but confronts a giant lock. As such, he needs to figure out the passcode to enter. To make matters worse, the code refreshes every minute. The next couple of days become a nightmare for Taiyo Asano as he confronts various traps one after another.

The training also goes beyond the house, with Taiyo having to wear a shirt weighing 50 kilograms daily to school. Although he wants to quit, his determination and love for Mutsumi keep him going.

Later at night, Mutsumi approaches Taiyo and asks how he is doing. The protagonist feels that he's weak. However, his childhood friend reminds him of how he once stood beside her at school during the matriculation ceremony when some students bullied her.

Mutsumi knows that Taiyo has been protecting her all the time. As such, she implores him not to push hard. For the next few days, Taiyo Asano desperately learns how to survive the harsh conditions of the Yozakura Family's mansion. Astonishingly, he clears every trap except the bathroom lock in three weeks.

The exhaustion from the intense training catches up to Taiyo

While trying to open the bathroom lock one day, Taiyo Asano loses consciousness and falls to the ground. Nanao takes him to his lab and realizes that he is down with a fever due to exhaustion.

Since Taiyo was so desperate to adapt to the Yozakura family's lifestyle, his body couldn't keep up with it. Despite his fever, Taiyo still wanted to train. However, Futaba strongly advises him not to.

Upon closer inspection, she realizes Nanao, Kengo, and others helped Taiyo cover up his injuries. She admonishes them for their deeds. However, Taiyo requests Futaba not to say anything because he was the one who begged them for help.

The white-haired girl tells Taiyo that if he wants to protect Mutsumi, he should first protect himself. Instead of looking for shortcuts, he should show patience, which is also part of the training. She then hands over a book to help him with the training.

Following that, in Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3, Futaba delves into a thought and feels she underestimated Taiyo. She also realizes that Taiyo's love for Mutsumi is borderline insane, and he might become more suitable to protect her sister than she thought.

A month finally passes, and Taiyo Asano clears every trap, including the dreaded bathroom lock. The Cherry Blossom Ring on his finger brightly sparks, signaling that he has been acknowledged as one of the family.

Mission: Yozakura Family episode 3 ends with Futaba complimenting Taiyo for his good work. She also says that he can now train as a Yozakura family member.
