Kevin McGuff played college basketball at Saint Joseph's College in Indiana, where he was a standout guard from 1988 to 1992. McGuff began his head coaching career at Xavier University, where he led the Musketeers from 2002 to 2011, achieving a remarkable 214-73 record and making the NCAA tournament in each of his nine seasons. His tenure included five consecutive NCAA appearances, setting a school record. Following his time at Xavier, McGuff coached at the University of Washington for two seasons, finishing with a record of 41-26 and securing two Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT) berths.

Letitia McGuff is the wife of Ohio State women's basketball head coach Kevin McGuff, according to his official Instagram account. Leticia is a former basketball player who played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Leticia also coached at Notre Dame in 2002 as an Assistant Coach, a role she took up upon Kevin McGuff's transfer to Xavier University, according to her official roster. She had been the Assistant coach at Notre Dame from 1996-99, and was the Director of basketball operations from 1999-2001.
