Canadian college basketball player William Riley played for the Big Ten Conference's Illinois Fighting Illini as a small forward in the 2024/25 season. He made himself eligible for the 2025 NBA draft. In the Class of 2025, Riley was ranked No. 9 overall by 247Sports, No. 10 by On3, and No. 11 by Rivals, making him the top-ranked Canadian prospect. He was selected Offensive MVP of the EYBL Indy Session while playing for UPlay Canada, averaging 21.9 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists during the EYBL.
Riley reportedly had scholarship offers from over 17 big conference schools, but ultimately decided on Illinois. He briefly attended Grand River Collegiate Institute and Preston High School before attending Southwest Academy Prep in London, Ontario. After that, he completed the final two years of his high school career at The Phelps School in Malvern, Pennsylvania.
