The senior quarterback was born on May 25, 2002, in West Columbia, Texas, U.S. The 6-foot-2-inch player provided his commitment to play for the University of the Incarnate Word. Ward managed to become their starting quarterback in his freshman season. In the 2020-2021 season, which was cut short following the COVID-19 pandemic, Ward played six games where he recorded an FCS-leading 24 touchdowns against four interceptions with two rushing touchdowns.
