Garret Rangel is an American football quarterback who plays for the Oklahoma State Cowboys. Rangel was born in Irving, Texas, and attended Lone Star High School in Frisco, Texas. The redshirt sophomore has made a significant presence on the field since joining the Oklahoma State football program in 2022.

During his high school career, he completed 594 of 862 passes for 9,333 yards and 101 touchdowns. As a senior, Rangel completed 127 of 187 passes for 2,049 yards and 24 touchdowns, with only three interceptions, while also rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown. He earned the offensive MVP honors in 2020 and 2021, was named the 2019 offensive newcomer of the year, and received an all-state honorable mention. In addition to football, he competed in basketball, and track and field and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Rangel was a highly-rated recruit, recognized as a four-star prospect by ESPN and 247Sports, and was listed in the ESPN300 as the No. 282 overall prospect in the nation. ESPN ranked him as the No. 46 player in Texas and No. 14 quarterback nationally. He chose Oklahoma State over offers from several other schools, including Utah, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Houston.

Rangel debuted for the Cowboys in a win over UAPB, where he did not complete a pass but contributed with two carries for nine yards. His first significant playing time came six games later when he started against Kansas. In this game, he completed 27 of 40 pass attempts for 304 yards and two touchdowns, making it the seventh-highest passing yardage by a freshman in Oklahoma State history and the most by a freshman quarterback since 2012. His performance also ranked as the second-highest by a Cowboy true freshman in their first career start. According to ESPN, in the 2023 season, Rangel completed 17 out of 32 passes, achieving a 53.1% completion rate. He has thrown for 172 yards with an average of 5.4 yards per attempt, and recorded two touchdowns, and one interception, leading to a passer rating of 112.6. His longest pass so far this season is 30 yards.
