He attended Hardaway High School in Columbus, Georgia, and was named Maxwell Football National High School Defensive Player of the Year. He was a five-star recruit and ranked as the fourth-best player in the 2022 class.
Williams first committed to USC but switched to Georgia in October 2021. He was the top recruit signed by Georgia that year. As a freshman in 2022, he played in the season opener and made two quarterback hurries. He was named to the PFF True Freshman All-America team and helped Georgia win the national championship.
