5 memorable moments from the SRH v DD match that don’t fade away

Corey Anderson played a swashbuckling innings to take his team over the line

Delhi Daredevils are just hanging in there with a glimmer of hope to reach the play-off as they beat the defending champions, Sunrisers Hyderabad, by 6 wickets. After winning the toss, Delhi Daredevils captain Karun Nair asked the Sunrisers to bat first on a relatively good batting track.

The Sunrisers went in with confidence and started the game aggressively, thanks to some vintage batting from Shikhar Dhawan and David Warner. They somewhat lost their way in the middle, but were catapulted back into contention by Yuvraj Singh, who helped the score reach 185.

In response, the Daredevils beautifully constructed their innings with the right amount of aggression and won the game with relative comfort in the end.

Here are 5 memorable moments from the match that don't fade away, quite like the Axe Signature range of body perfumes.

#1 Sanju Samson’s drop

Chris Morris shows his displeasure after Samson dropped a catch

When Yuvraj Singh gets going, perhaps only God can stop him. Such is the power of the man that he can single-handedly win his team a lot of games. Hence, it is absolutely pivotal for a team to have its fielders on their toes when the left-hander is on the crease.

However, Sanju Samson wasn’t as alert as he should have been. The young Daredevils wicketkeeper dropped the catch of Yuvraj Singh when the experienced campaigner was on 29 from 26 balls.

After that, the World Cup winner went on to score a further 41 runs from just 15 balls. In total, he made 70 off just 41 balls and hit an astounding 11 boundaries and a six.

#2 Amit Mishra channels his inner Tahir

Mishra picked up a key wicket and gave away just 23 runs

This Indian Premier League has seen many leg spinners flourish, which has been a breath of fresh air. The likes of Imran Tahir and Rashid Khan have had a great tournament thus far and it looks like Amit Mishra also wants to join in on the party.

The Daredevils spinner bowled out his quota of 4 overs and gave only 23 runs in his spell. He also took the key wicket of Shikhar Dhawan, who was threatening to take the game away from Delhi, but was dismissed for 28.

It was Mishra's tight bowling in the middle overs that halted the blazing chariot of the Sunrisers.

#3 Karun Nair back with a bang

The stand-in skipper gave his team the perfect start

They say that overnight success isn’t always a good thing and what better example than that of Karun Nair? The Indian made a triple century against England six months ago and shot his name towards the pantheon of Indian cricket.

However, since then, his form has spiralled downwards without relenting… until tonight.

The stand-in captain opened the innings and gave his team a raging start, scoring 39 runs from only 20 balls. His innings consisted of five boundaries and two sixes and gave the middle-order the perfect platform to launch their wrath.

#4 Corey Anderson’s finish

Anderson scored 41 off just 24 balls

There are some players in the world that infuriate fans with their unacceptable levels of inconsistency. However, there are days when these said players find their groove and turn into unbeatable batsmen that decimate the opposition’s bowling line up.

New Zealand has one such player: Corey Anderson.

While he has had a rather poor outing in this year’s Indian Premier League, he showed his class tonight with a very well-played innings of 41* from just 27 balls. With three sixes and two fours, he made sure that he left the pitch with the win in his bag.

#5 The day of double-figures

Yuvraj Singh was one of the 11 players to take his score to double digits

The rarely found things in life are always regarded as the most precious ones. It is for this reason why people love things like rainbows and Axe body sprays since they have qualities that are not found in anything else.

In tonight’s game, we had one such scorecard. In total, 11 players got the opportunity to bat at the Kotla and all of them successfully registered double figures.

Not a single batsman scored less than 15 runs and it was a great sight for people who believe in teamwork more than individual brilliance.
