Just like the previous year's edition, Asia Cup 2023 will take place with six teams. These six teams are divided into two groups of three teams each. The first group consists of India, Pakistan, and Nepal. While India and Pakistan got their spots in the Asia Cup due to being full-time ICC members, Nepal earned their spot by winning the ACC Men's Premier Cup held in April and May 2023.

Group ‘B’ features former champions Sri Lanka, former finalists Bangladesh, and rising stars Afghanistan. Group B is unchanged from the 2022 edition of the tournament. The only change in Group B between the 2022 and 2023 events is the format. The previous event was a T20 tournament while the current edition is ODI.

The top two teams of the two groups will then progress to the Super Fours round. There will be no group in Super Fours. All four teams will play against each other in a round-robin format, with the top two nations on the Asia Cup points table earning a place in the final match. A total of 13 matches will take place throughout the tournament to crown the champions of Asia.

FAQs :-

Q) How are groups decided in the Asia Cup?

A) The Asian Cricket Council decides the Asia Cup groups during a private meeting. There is no fixed system in place to determine the groups. This year, the organizers have kept the teams in the same groups as their 2022 campaign. The only change is that the previous year's Hong Kong has been replaced by the 2023 ACC Men's Premier Cup winner Nepal in Group A.
