The India vs. Sri Lanka rivalry is one of the most underrated ones in cricket history. Both nations have always given each other a run for their money whenever they meet on the cricket field. This rivalry has a special place in Asia Cup history because these two countries have met in the final of this tournament on multiple occasions.


India and Sri Lanka have been regular participants in the Asia Cup since the inaugural edition. India has been the most successful team with seven championship wins, while Sri Lanka is second on the list with six. Further, India and Sri Lanka are so far the only teams to win both the ODI as well as T20 version of the Asia Cup. The two teams are grouped in separate groups in Asia Cup 2023. The India vs. Sri Lanka rivalry has been worth the watch since the very beginning. From 1988 to 1997, four editions of the Asia Cup were played and all these editions featured the same final. India took on Sri Lanka in these finals and won three of them. Following the break of this streak, India and Sri Lanka contested three more consecutive finals from 2004 to 2010 and Sri Lanka won two of them. The two teams have yet to feature in an Asia Cup final since 2010.
