T20 is a format where the bits and pieces players can survive, as opposed to Tests, which demands the presence of specialists in each department. The value of a genuine all-rounder soars immensely in T20's as they give the team the much-required balance and flexibility.

Every team that wants to do well makes sure that they have a pool of good all-rounders to chose from, making them in huge demand in the T20 format.

This is evident from IPL auctions where franchises are seen raising the bids higher than expected to avail the services of a world-class all-rounder.

Let's have a look at six all-rounders who have managed to achieve the double of scoring more than 1000 runs as well as picking up 50 wickets or more in the history of the IPL.

Shane Watson

M: 101 | Runs: 2620 | Bat.Avg.: 31.57 | S.R.: 138.65 | Best: 104*

Wickets: 85 | Bowl. Avg.: 28.21 | Eco.: 7.83 | Best: 4/29

Arguably one of the most effective all-rounders of the modern era to have played in the IPL, Shane Watson can be a destructive top-order batsman as well as a middle order finisher.

Complementing his explosive batting skills are his accurate bowling skills as his medium pace has always been a captain's delight.

Having been awarded the award for the Most Valuable Player twice in the IPL (2008 and 2013) - the only player to achieve this feat - Watson played an instrumental role in taking Rajasthan Royals to the summit in 2008.

He used the 2013 season as a platform to resurrect his cricket career as he ended the tournament with 543 runs and 13 wickets to his name.

Watson is surely past his prime and it would be interesting to see how much he still has to offer at his new franchise Chennai Super Kings.

Jacques Kallis

M: 98 | Runs: 2427 | Bat.Avg.: 28.55 | S.R.: 109.23 | Best: 89*

Wickets: 65 | Bowl. Avg.: 35.28 | Eco.: 7.9 | Best: 3/13

Former player and current coach at Kolkata Knight Riders, Jacques Kallis is undoubtedly one of the greatest all-rounders to have played the sport, at least in the generation gone by. Having started off his IPL career with RCB, Kallis was acquired by KKR post the third season.

He has since been associated with the franchise and played a major role in helping them clinching the titles in 2012 and 2014.

With bat in hand, he was given the role of partnering former skipper Gautam Gambhir at the top and lay a strong foundation for the middle order to follow.

His bowling remained an asset for him throughout his career and more often than not he gave his captain four economical overs in the middle stage of the innings.

Not to forget his safe pair of hands and with a strong throwing arm from the deep, Kallis was a complete package.

M: 123 | Runs: 2343 | Bat.Avg.: 28.93 | S.R.: 146.53 | Best: 78

Wickets: 56 | Bowl. Avg.: 31.61 | Eco.: 8.86 | Best: 4/44

Hard hitting Caribbean all-rounder Kieron Pollard rose to fame with the success he got for his home team Trinidad & Tobago in the 2009 CLT20 which led the Mumbai Indians to go bonkers for him in the succeeding IPL auction.

Having made his debut for them in 2010, Pollard has remained an integral part of the Mumbai squad. They reached the finals in 2010 but lost to CSK. They, however, avenged the defeat in the summit clashes of 2013 and 2015 as they routed CSK both times.

Pollard, the Man of the Match in the final of IPL 2013, gives brute strength to the middle order and with that the confidence of chasing down any total.

He seldom bowls now, but in the past has been a useful bowling resource often breaking crucial partnerships.

Not just this, the 6' 4' tall player has turned matches on their heads by his astonishing fielding and is one of the top five fielders in the IPL when it comes to catches taken.

M: 138 | Runs: 1732 | Bat.Avg.: 24.06 | S.R.: 122.92 | Best: 48

Wickets: 82 | Bowl. Avg.: 30.56 | Eco.: 7.81 | Best: 5/16

His performance at the U-19 World Cup of 2008 won him an IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals for the inaugural season of IPL and Ravindra Jadeja has never looked back.

One of the major hits of 2008 who helped the Royals clinch the title, Jadeja's all-round talent helped him rise in the eyes of the legendary Shane Warne who called him 'rockstar'.

A left-arm orthodox bowler who depends on natural variations for wickets and a handy lower order batsman, Jadeja has had decent success over the years in IPL. He has used it, apart from his three first-class triple centuries, as the launchpad into the national squad.

In 2018, he joins forces with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni at CSK once again and with Dhoni's love for controlling a game with his spinners, Jadeja will always be an integral part of the setup.

M: 106 | Runs: 1262 | Bat.Avg.: 22.95 | S.R.: 126.33 | Best: 70

Wickets: 122 | Bowl. Avg.: 22.58 | Eco.: 8.2 | Best: 4/22

One of the best exponents of the slower ball yorker in world cricket, Dwayne Bravo has made many batsmen dance to his Calypso beats. A two-time Purple cap winner, the Windies all-rounder is an expert in the shortest format of the game.

After a three year contract with Mumbai Indians, Bravo was bought by CSK and has been a vital cog in their IPL success story.

While his bowling in the death overs is his biggest strength, he has played useful knocks with the bat to bail his team out in many crucial match situations.

To add to it, he is one of the best fielders in the worlds and has affected catches and run-outs that are showpieces of athleticism.

And if this is not enough, he gives you a high dose of entertainment with his celebrations and dance gigs. In the twilight of his career, Bravo would like to sign off on a high with CSK who have shown faith in the 'Champion'.

Irfan Pathan - A promising career that lost its track

M: 103 | Runs: 1139 | Bat.Avg.: 21.49 | S.R.: 120.4 | Best: 60

Wickets: 80 | Bowl. Avg.: 33.11 | Eco.: 7.78 | Best: 3/24

A young sensation in 2003, Irfan Pathan's early success led him to be compared to the likes of Wasim Akram and though he made a great start to his international career, he soon faded away.

Similar is the story of his IPL career as he was one of the major stars when the tournament got underway in 2008, fresh off his success at the WT20 in 2007 where he was Man of the Match in the final against Pakistan.

He had a decent stint with Kings XI Punjab before he became a sort of nomad as far as the IPL was concerned.

Since then, he has been part of Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions before going unsold for the upcoming season.

With form and fitness having deserted him, it seems all is over for this boy from Baroda.
