Jos Buttler

Jos Buttler, the English wicketkeeper-batsman was at his best for the Rajasthan Royals. Buttler had an above average season for Mumbai Indians in 2017 but the team could not retain him owing to the retention constraints.

Although Mumbai Indians fought hard in the auction to get him back but lost to Rajasthan Royals who bought him for Rs. 4.4 crore. Buttler had a below average first half of the tournament but he shifted the gears in the match against Delhi Daredevils.

His scores in the last 7 innings are 67, 51, 82, 95*, 94*, 39. He scored 5 consecutive fifties to equal the record held by Virender Sehwag. Overall in the season, he scored 548 runs at an average of 54.80 and a strike rate of 155.24. He ended up 6th on the list of the highest run scorers.

Buttler successfully marched his team into the playoffs of the tournament but unfortunately left for England before the playoffs began owing to his international commitments. Had he been part of the team, Rajasthan may have chased down the target against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator.
