IPL 2018: 3 players who can replace the injured Kagiso Rabada at Delhi Daredevils

South Africa v Sri Lanka - 2nd ODI
Kagiso Rabada

Delhi Daredevils' squad this season is considered to be their best in the IPL so far, and the fans and team owners have many expectations from the players. Delhi are the only active team in the tournament who have never played in an IPL final, but they are looking strong to play one this year.

The Delhi team retained three of its best players from the previous season and all of them are lethal in their respective roles. But unfortunately for them, Kagiso Rabada, their best bowler, has been ruled out of the tournament owing to a back injury.

Delhi Daredevils are scheduled to play their first match on Sunday and thus need to sign a quick replacement for the injured bowler. Here are three foreign players who can replace the injured bowler:

#3 Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood, the Australian fast bowler, is one of the most lethal bowlers in the world at the moment. Hazlewood is a regular in the Australian Test and ODI teams and while he does not have as much T20 experience, he has the ability to adapt to any environment.

Hazlewood had an impressive Ashes series earlier this year where he took 21 wickets in 5 matches and emerged as the third highest wicket-taker in the series. In the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, Hazlewood clinched 12 wickets in four matches.

In T20s he has played 30 matches and taken 37 wickets at an economy of 7.77. Hazlewood, who can be effective with the new ball, would form an ideal replacement option for the South African fast bowler.

#2 James Faulkner

James Faulkner

James Faulkner, one of Australia's best all-rounders, has been out of Australia's international team for a while now. Faulkner was the Man of the Match in the World Cup 2015 final where he clinched three wickets, and he was a mainstay in the Rajasthan Royals squad for many years, winning several matches for the franchise.

Faulkner, who played for Gujarat Lions in the previous two seasons, has lately been ineffective on Indian soil and that was one of the biggest reasons why he went unsold in the IPL Auction this year. Still, he is a potent option for Delhi Daredevils who lack an experienced death overs' fast bowler after the injury to Rabada.

The Australian has played in 159 T20 matches and has taken 176 wickets at an economy of 7.94.

Delhi Daredevils could look to sign the Australian all-rounder to add depth to their batting lineup on top of his bowling duties.

#1 Moises Henriques

Moises Henriques

Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques has shone in the IPL with both the ball and the bat in the previous seasons. Henriques, who was a regular member of the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp, played a big role in the team qualifying for the playoffs in the last two seasons.

Henriques has considerable T20 experience, having played in 176 T20 matches and scoring 3,219 runs at a strike rate of 125.88. He has also taken 107 wickets at an economy of 8.31.

In the IPL he has scored 969 runs in 57 IPL matches at a strike rate of 128.17 and has taken 38 wickets at an economy of 8.38.

Henriques could be an ideal replacement for Rabada as a wicket-taking bowler. Moreover, he can be destructive at times with the bat and thus would add firepower to the Delhi Daredevils' middle order.
