This has been the coming of age for one of India’s finest emerging talent Rishabh Pant, who has taken the world by storm in just a few years after his burst onto the scene. The southpaw is reckoned as the future of Indian cricket who is believed to carry the burden of India’s batting for quite some time.

The Delhi-born player has been instrumental in playing few innings that have defined him as a player who can go the distance for Indian cricket. In one of his recent exploits on the cricket field, Pant smashed his maiden T20 century against Sunrisers Hyderabad to record 128 runs from just 63 deliveries.

It was an innings of real character from the youngster that helped his team post a decent 187 on the board. However, his valiant effort went in vain as, despite his tremendous skills against a tough attack, Delhi failed to prevent the visitors to score those runs on a slow Kotla pitch.

As it turned out, Pant’s knock of 128 became the highest individual runs scored in a losing cause in an IPL game. It was a feeling of dismay for the youngster who gave it all and unfortunately ended on the losing side.

This knock bettered the record of Andrew Symonds, who registered a score of 117 against Rajasthan in 2008, in a losing cause. This was obviously a feat that no batsmen would like to hold after such a brilliant individual performance.

#2 Youngest player to score 1000 IPL runs

He surpassed the elite list of players to reach to the cliff. He surpassed yet another Indian emerging talent Sanju Samson, who is also doing wonders for his franchise at Rajasthan Royals.

The list even features Indian skipper Virat Kohli at the No.3 spot. It is pleasing to see some young cricketers from different parts of the country taking the onus upon themselves for their own franchises under the leadership of some experienced campaigners.

With the likes of Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson making huge strides at such level, it gives an assurance of Indian cricket is in safe hands in the future.

He surpassed Virat Kohli’s record who scored 557 runs in 2011 for RCB at the age of 22. But Pant, at 20, with his continued brilliance, is making runs for fun, especially in the shortest version of the game.
