IPL 2018: Highest Individual score for each team in IPL history

Over the course of 11 years. IPL has revolutionized not just the Indian Cricket but the world cricket. It has raised the bar in each aspect of the game particularly batting. Everyone loves a high scoring game. Everyone wants to see those skyscraper sixes, those ferocious pull shots, those elegant cover drives which are the reasons that pull the crowd in huge numbers to the stadium. We have already seen 3 centuries in this season so far. But do you know in the history of IPL which team has which player as its highest Scorer?

We will give you a round-up of the 8 existing teams in IPL and who has scored the highest run in an innings for them.

#8 Rajasthan Royals

The team that has played 9 season out of the 11 including the ongoing one has Shane Watson as its highest scorer. Well no surprises there. Shane Watson has been Rajasthan's backbone while he was a part of the Royal's squad.

In an all-important match on 16th May 2015 which was played against Kolkata Knight Riders, Watson slammed 104 not out of 59 balls which included 9 fours and 5 sixes. His brilliant innings helped Rajasthan to finish on 199 giving a target of 200 to Knight Riders who ultimately fell 9 runs short and it ensured Rajasthan a spot in the playoff.

#7 Delhi Daredevils

Despite being the biggest disappointment as a team this year, Delhi has produced some brilliant individual performers and the brightest of them is Rishabh Pant. The authority with which the young player has played so far is simply amazing which is a good sign for Indian cricket. This season has been exceptional for Rishabh Personally and his century against Sunrisers Hyderabad the best bowling unit of IPL can well be the highlight of this season.

His innings of 128 that consisted of 7 sixes and 15 fours are the highest individual score for anyone who has played for Delhi. The manner in which Pant absolutely butchered Bhuvaneshwar Kumar in the last over was something that came as a shocker for many cricket Pundits. Pant's 128 is also the highest individual score by an Indian in T20 cricket. The sad part though, was that it is also the highest score in IPL that has ended on a losing cause as the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson and opener Shikhar Dhawan constructed the chase extremely well to get over the line.

#6 Kings XI Punjab

On 30th May 2014, when everyone thought that Virender Sehwag is done and dusted. Sehwag played his best IPL innings for Punjab scoring 122 runs for the franchise against Chennai Super Kings and helping Punjab reach a target of 226 runs.

Sehwag hit the balls with so much disdain that there was a glimpse of the old Sehwag that day. His 20 boundaries that included 12 fours and 8 sixes proved too good for Chennai Super Kings who despite a valiant Raina innings fell 24 runs short of the target.

#5 Kolkata Knight Riders

If there is one match that has got to be the most epic and served as an advertisement for IPL around the world, was the inaugural game of this league in which Kolkata Knight Riders absolutely thumped Royal Challengers Bangalore courtesy an epic 158 of Brendon McCullum.

The brutal one-man assault that took 73 balls had 13 towering sixes and it made the Kolkata Knight riders fans dance in joy and made the KKR owner Shahrukh khan bow down to the former New Zealand skipper. Needless to say, Kolkata thumped Bangalore in the inaugural game and that too by 140 runs. Their biggest win by runs margin to date.

#4 Sunrisers Hyderabad

David Warner is not playing this year's IPL. Kane Williamson is leading team very well and Sunrisers Hyderabad has become the first team to qualify for Playoff but despite all these people are still comparing him to David Warner. Such has been the impact of David Warner on this franchise.

Against Kolkata Knight Riders last year David Warner played such a ruthless inning of 126 that left the cricketers and fans around the world in awe of the Aussie Southpaw. His 59 balls long inning was enough to lift Sunrisers Hyderabad to 209 which proved too good for Kolkata Knight Riders given the kind of bowling attack Hyderabad has.

#3 Royal Challengers Bangalore

If it's T20 and we are talking about the batting Records it is mandatory that the Universe Boss Chris Gayle tops the chart. Gayle who played for Bangalore from 2011 till last year set the league ablaze with his power hitting. He was unsold in the 2011 IPL auction and was later bought into RCB squad because of Dirk Nannes Injury. In the same season, he amassed 175 runs against the defunct team Pune Warriors India. Needless to say, that score is not just the highest Individual score in IPL but is a world record that will probably be never broken.

The other records that Gayle created while playing this innings are - Fastest T20 century (30 balls), Highest T20 score by a team (263 by RCB) and most number of Sixes in an innings (17 by Gayle, 21 by RCB). Pune ultimately lost the game by 130 runs. Such was the impact of this innings that the whole Pune team was reportedly given a counselling session after this match.

Even MS Dhoni tweeted - Life is all about taking the right decision, seeing Gayle bat today I think I took the right decision of being a wicket keeper.

#2 Chennai Super Kings

CSK's highest scorer might surprise many. A team that has boasted of Raina, Dhoni, McCullum, Hussey and Faf Du Plessis in some years or the other, has Murali Vijay as its highest scorer. Back in 2010, the Year when CSK won its first IPL trophy. Vijay played a blinder against Rajasthan. He scored 127 that is still the highest individual score for CSK even after 8 years. His 56 balls stay at the crease consisted of 11 mighty sixes that lifted CSK to its highest ever team score as well(246).

The Rajasthan Royals batsmen tried to give a scare but ultimately the target was very high and they ended 23 runs short.

#1 Mumbai Indians

The most successful team in the history of IPL should also be thanked for bringing in two stalwarts of the game - Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya as the opener of a single team.

The swashbuckling left-hander from Sri Lanka is the highest individual scorer for the Mumbai team. Playing at their home Mumbai was playing against arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings. The visitors posted a challenging 156 runs on the board. But Mumbai made a mockery out of it thanks to Sanath Jayasuriya. Sanath scored a quickfire 114 off 48 balls that included 11 sixes and 9 fours. His innings that came at a strike rate of 237 made sure that Mumbai reached their target with more than 6 overs left.
