CSK go to the top of the table with this win

The Chennai Super Kings pulled off a four-run victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a clash of two teams that are at the right side of the points table.

MS Dhoni and his team defended a total of 183 against Kane Williamson's men at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday (April 22).

The Men in Yellow now have four wins in five games and are sitting pretty at the top of the table. SRH, on the other hand, are fourth with six points in their kitty so far.

Here are the hits and misses from the game:

#5 Hit: Ambati Rayudu

It was a brilliant knock for the former Mumbai Indians batsman
It was a brilliant knock from the right-hander

The former Mumbai Indians batsman has taken well to the yellow jersey. After coming on to open with Shane Watson in the first few games of the tournament, he was back to the familiar No. 4 position for the Super Kings.

The ploy worked well, as he took the attack to the opposition after two quick wickets and then, managed to accelerate superbly to take CSK to a slightly above-par total.

The right-handed batsman scored 79 runs off just 37 deliveries in a knock that included nine boundaries and four ginormous sixes.

He also built a superb partnership with Suresh Raina for the third wicket, as the pair put up 112 runs in just 9.3 overs.

#4 Miss: Shane Watson

Watson could not capitalize on his MOTM performance from the last game
Watson could not capitalise on his MOTM performance from the last game

The Australian all-rounder, who scored a match-winning century against RR in the previous game, went completely missing against SRH on the day.

He failed with the bat in the first innings, as he scored just nine runs off 15 deliveries before falling to the precise bowling of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

He wasn't at his consistent best with the ball as well, as he conceded 25 runs in his two-over spell and remained wicket-less on the day.

Watson will want to get back on his feet in the next game, as will be a vital cog for CSK's potential success through the tournament this season.

#3 Hit: Kane Williamson

Williamson has been in great touch recently
Williamson has been in great touch recently

The SRH captain was the only batsman who exuded both class and form for the hosts on the day.

The elegant Kiwi batsman scored 84 off 51 deliveries, and until he was on the crease, his team had a serious chance of coming through in the chase.

Williamson now has two back-to-back fifties in the tournament, and he will be gutted these efforts have not been able to take SRH over the line on both occasions.

The New Zealand skipper hit five boundaries and five sixes against the Chennai Super Kings and was bossing the bowlers with his elegant yet effective strokeplay.

#2 Miss: Manish Pandey

SRH need him to be at his best!
SRH need him to be at his best!

Manish Pandey was considered to be one of the marquee players for SRH in the lead up to the tournament, thanks to his success with the international team in the last couple of months.

However, his performance in the league this year has not been up to the standards he has set for himself.

Against CSK, the right-handed batsman was dismissed for a duck. His stay on the crease lasted for just two deliveries, and he was sent back to the pavilion in the third over of the chase.

Pandey's wicket put a lot of pressure on the SRH middle-order and Williamson himself, as the hosts were down to a weak position very early in pursuit of a tough and testing total.

#1 Hit: Deepak Chahar

CSK seem to have groomed yet another seam-bowling talent!
CSK seem to have groomed yet another seam-bowling talent!

The Chennai Super Kings have a knack for unearthing raw seam-bowling talents in every IPL season and then, turning them into brilliant performers over the course of the tournament. The latest gem discovered by them is Deepak Chahar, the 25-year-old seam bowler from Agra.

He turned things around with his terrific opening spell on the day, wherein he picked up just three wickets in his first three overs, giving away just 7 runs in the process. He terrorized the SRH batsmen with his bowling and also bowled the maiden early in the innings.

He ended with mind-blowing figures of 3 for 1 in his quota of four overs. Ricky Bhui, Pandey, and Deepak Hooda were the victims of his awe-inspiring effort in Hyderabad.
