Rohit Sharma had a poor outing with the bat this season

The most successful player in the IPL history has failed to live up to the expectations of the fans and franchise this season.

Hitman had a sensational run in 2017, as he led Mumbai to a record third IPL title. Thereby, he became the most successful skipper in the IPL (three titles) surpassing Gautam Gambhir and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

This season, the Men in Blue retained their skipper for a whopping INR 15 crore. Sharma, who has never scored below 300 runs in an IPL season managed just 286 runs this season. Sharma as a skipper was outstanding as usual, but his rare failure with the bat let Mumbai down.

He failed to step-up on many occasions for Mumbai this season. His best innings performance came against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at home, in which he scored a superb 94(52).

Mumbai convincingly won that game by 46 runs. Struggling for runs, Sharma failed to recreate his past editions heroics and was not at his usual best in season eleven. A rare failure for the champion limited-overs batsman.
