IPL 2019: 3 teenagers to watch out for

The 12th edition of Indian Premier League will begin on March 23. One of the best T20 leagues in the world, IPL not only entertain fans but it also provides a great opportunity to young players to showcase their talent. Over the years, IPL has given several talented young players to the cricket world.

In previous seasons, we have seen many teen sensation like Manish Pandey, Mandeep Singh, Rashid Khan, Rishabh Pant etc. who had made a mark in their teenage days. Many teenage players will be seen playing this time as well.

So here, we will take a look at three teenage players to watch out for in the upcoming edition of IPL.


#3 Sandeep Lamichhane

First Nepalese cricketer to play in IPL, Sandeep Lamichhane was bought by Delhi Daredevils (Delhi Capitals now) for INR 20 lakh at the IPL auction 2018. In the last season, he played three matches and impressed everyone with his performance in all the three matches. He picked five wickets at an unbelievable average of 16.4 and economy rate of 6.83.

After his impressive performance in IPL, the wrist spinner was seen playing in several T20 leagues like the Caribbean Premier League, Big Bash League and Bangladesh Premier League. His performances in all the T20 leagues were quite impressive. So far, the teenager has played a total of 23 T20s and has picked 28 wickets at an impressive average of 19.60 and economy rate of 6.61.

The 19-year-old is a promising young talent, to say the least. In the upcoming edition of IPL, he could be proved to be a valuable player for Delhi Capitals if he gets to play enough matches. So, it will be very interesting to see how he will perform in 12th edition of the Indian Premier League.

One of the exciting young talents in Indian cricket, Kamlesh Nagarkoti came into limelight for the first time during the U-19 World Cup 2018 where he impressed everyone with his fast and furious bowling. In the tournament, he was bowling regularly over 140 kph. He had picked nine wickets from six matches at an astonishing average of 16.33.

Impressed by his bowling in the U-19 World Cup, Kolkata Knight Riders bought him for a huge sum of INR 3.2 crore at IPL auctions 2018. But unfortunately, he had to leave the tournament without playing a single match because of injury.

In the upcoming season of Indian Premier League, the teenager will surely want to make a mark by performing well. Kamlesh Nagarkoti is expected to play a key role for Kolkata Knight Riders in their fast bowling department. So, it will be worth-watching Kamlesh Nagarkoti in the 12th season of IPL.

The right-handed stylish batsmen, Shubman Gill rose to fame during the U-19 World Cup 2018 where he scored a total of 372 runs at an excellent average of 104 from five innings. He had slammed an unbeaten hundred in the semi-final of the tournament against the arch rivals Pakistan.

Because of his performance in U-19 world cup, he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 1.8 crore at IPL auctions 2018. In the 11th edition of IPL, the teenager played 13 matches and scored 203 runs at an average of 33.83 and strike rate of 146.04 while batting in lower middle-order in most of the matches.

The 19-year-old has performed consistently in domestic cricket in last one year. Owing to his performance in the domestic circuit, he recently made his ODI debut for the Indian team against New Zealand.

Shubhman Gill posses a great talent and could be the next big thing in Indian cricket. He will be looking forward to make the most of his opportunities in IPL 2019.
