Tim Southee has had a miserable IPL so far, albeit in just three matches. If I had to pick one reason for RCB's dismal show this season, It would be their death bowling. After the auction, it was quite clear that RCB had a lot of faith in Tim Southee's skill as a death bowler.

While Southee has never been an exceptional T20 bowler, this season his performances in the T20 format were really under-par. Southee played only 3 games this season in which he conceded 118 runs at an economy of over 13 runs per over. Moreover, he has picked up only one wicket.

He single handedly lost the game for RCB in his first match of the season when he gave away 29 runs of the 19th over against Andre Russell and looked more helpless than the young Indian bowlers that night. In the following games he was also hammered by Prithvi Shaw and KL Rahul.
