Another big problem that RCB faced this year was the lack of wicket taking bowlers they had in their ranks. Barring Yuzvendra Chahal, no one really stepped up and picked wickets in the middle phase of the innings, which is the most crucial part of the match.

The likes of Marcus Stoinis, Colin de Granddhome, Pawan Negi, etc struggled to help Chahal. Forget about picking up wickets, their economy rate also wasn't up to the mark. If RCB had someone like Imran Tahir, the wicket-taking load would have been shared between the two leg-spinners and both of them also contain the innings very well.

In his 14 matches, Tahir has picked up 21 wickets at an economy rate of 7.8. There are no questions over Kohli lacking a wicket-taking option in the middle overs but if he had some like Tahir, the picture could have been completely different, but that was not to be.
