Shimron Hetmyer had caught everyone’s eyes when he led the U-19 team to an emphatic victory in Bangladesh. He was immediately inducted into the Caribbean Premier League where he represented the Guyana Amazon Warriors. He has all the shots in the book and looks solid that has established him in the West Indies squad.

It was in 2019 IPL auctions, that he was bought by RCB to strengthen their middle order. He was unlucky to run himself out for a duck in a low scoring affair against CSK in Chennai. In the next three matches, he had scores of 5, 9, and 1. RCB, which was on a losing streak wanted to try a different combination and dropped him.

He had to wait until RCB’s last match which was played against SRH. Chasing 176, RCB lost Kohli and AB de Villiers early in the innings. Hetmyer joined Gurkeerat Singh in the middle and played a match winning 75 off just 47 deliveries. His success against the best bowling attack in the tournament spoke a lot about his ability. That knock should seal his spot for a another season at least.
