The Chennai Super Kings lack a quality overseas pacer who could serve them better in the death overs. Though Lungi Ngidi was exceptional during their title win in 2018 IPL with 11 wickets in seven matches, his injury was a major blow for Chennai's pace department this year. CSK needs speedsters like Mitchell Starc, Sheldon Cottrell, Mustafizur Rahman and James Pattinson to make major reinforcement to their pace department.

The three-time winners desperately need a hard-hitting all-rounder who could contribute with the bat low down the order and also finish off the games. Kiwi all-rounder James Neesham and the dashing Aussie Glenn Maxwell might just be what the doctor ordered for Chennai to address their key concerns ahead of IPL 2020. With Shane Watson announcing his retirement from international cricket, the Men in Yellow might also have to consider releasing David Willey to accommodate for a dashing opener like either Jason Roy or Aaron Finch if Watson makes him unavailable for next IPL.
