N Jagadeesan: 6/10

Jagadeesan, replacing the out-of-sorts Jadhav, looks primed to retain his place for CSK after an encouraging 33 off 28 that should have gone on for longer. He did show some lack of intent and was run-out by a fair margin, with the dismissal cutting short an innings of potential.

Shane Watson: 3/10

Watson looked in no mood to rotate the strike in a tricky chase, and while he did strike three boundaries, he lost his middle stump looking for another. His 14 off 18, and the manner of dismissal, left a lot to be desired.

Faf du Plessis: 2.5/10

Du Plessis departed for just 8 off 10 without scoring a single boundary. Expected to hold the team up with his good form this season, the South African holed out in the deep after getting impatient in the powerplay.

Ambati Rayudu: 3/10

Rayudu chewed up a third of CSK's 20 overs and gave them 42 runs, which was not even a quarter of their target. His manner of dismissal came after a rather transparent ploy to scoop over fine leg was caught onto by the bowler, and he ended up looking silly as he exposed all three stumps to be bowled. The CSK No. 3 ran very poorly between the wickets and didn't even attempt to play the big shots in what was a very disappointing performance.

Karn Sharma: 3/10

Karn gave the RCB batsmen a few pickings, and was unable to strike with the ball. His four overs went for 34 runs, although Piyush Chawla may wait in the wings till one more failure.

MS Dhoni: 4.5/10

Dhoni answered the critics by coming in at No. 5, and looked set to score quickly with a well-timed six. After an ungainly heave off Chahal, however, he fell to the leggie. Ironically, he was CSK's fastest striker of the match.

Sam Curran: 1/10

Curran had a forgettable game, which was a rare feature in what has been a fine season for the all-rounder. With the ball, he was wayward and got a consolation wicket after going for 48 in his four. He departed on the first ball he faced, after edging an attempted hook to the keeper.

Shardul Thakur: 5/10

Thakur got the important wickets of Padikkal and De Villiers, but not without conceding 40 off his four. With bat in hand, he scored one off one and shook hands with the opposition players soon after.

Ravindra Jadeja: 6/10

Jadeja bowled two tidy overs for 7 runs, but didn't have much else to do without any turn on offer. He scored 7 off 6 towards the end of the CSK innings, and picked out Gurkeerat Singh in the deep to perfection.

Deepak Chahar: 7.5/10

Chahar was superb in the powerplay as he harried Aaron Finch before dismissing him to give CSK a great start. The Rajasthan pacer bowled only 3 overs on the night and finished with excellent figures of 1/10.

Dwayne Bravo: 3/10

Bravo has entered the team, but simply hasn't turned up for CSK this IPL. His 3 overs went for 29 runs with no wickets. With bat in hand, he was a shadow of the fearsome finisher he used to be, and spooned two catches to Padikkal. The second one was taken, ending his innings at 7 off 5.
