Delhi Capitals' star youngster Prithvi Shaw has been one of the most highly rated openers in the Indian circuit. He was roped in by the Delhi-based franchise in the IPL 2018 auction for ₹1.2 crore. He has been retained for the same amount ahead of IPL 2020.

Shaw had an impressive IPL debut as he scored 245 in 9 matches at an average of 27.22 and a strike rate of 153.12. While his performance was not terrible in IPL 2019, it was certainly below the high expectations the right-handed batsman has set for himself. Shaw scored 353 runs in 16 matches at a meager average of 22.06 and a strike rate of 133.71. Even though Shaw scored 99 off 55 balls against KKR and another fifty in the season, the rest of his performances were forgettable.

The 20-year-old has been in decent form for India A. He even smashed a scintillating 150 off 100 balls against New Zealand XI in January.

Shaw could not make the most of his opportunity in the first Test Match against New Zealand. He will look to make the most of his chance, in case he gets it for the second Test. The opener, who is yet to make a T20I debut, will also hope to take out his best in IPL 2020 in a bid to come in the eye of the selectors for the Twenty20 World Cup later this year.
