IPL: 5 big-name players you didn't know were once a part of RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore, perhaps the most followed team with the most passionate set of fans, and yet the perennial underachievers in the Indian Premier League, have, over the years, had big-ticket players, but for some reason, flattered to deceive.

Yes, there have been marquee names like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers among others in their ranks, but there have also been players not very well known to the masses.

Here in this slider, we identify five rather unknown players who have been a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad.

#5 Mohammed Kaif

The former Indian player was in Rajasthan Royals' squad when the tournament started back in 2008.

He then went across and played for the Kings XI Punjab in 2010 and then shifted down south to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011 and 2012.

In 9 matches, he could only manage 55 runs at a meagre average of 14 with a strike rate of around 100.

#4 Eoin Morgan

The current England limited-overs captain, Eoin Morgan was snapped up by the Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2010 on the basis of being one of England's leading run-scorers in limited overs back home.

However, he did not have a very fruitful time with RCB and was forced to make a move to Kolkata Knight Riders and then to Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He has not been able to stamp his authority in the IPL at any time during his career which is a crying shame for a player of his abilities.

#3 Shivnarine Chanderpaul

The West Indian legend was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in their debut year but the Test legend could never get going, playing only as many as three matches for the team.

Despite being a stalwart for West Indies in both Tests and ODIs, the southpaw has never been able to drop the hammer as far as his career in T20s is concerned.

Having said this, he has the record for the 4th fastest Test century (off 67 balls) and has been a cornerstone for the West Indies in many of their limited overs triumphs.

#2 Nathan Bracken

The former Australian ODI specialist was a part of the marauding Australian ODI outfit and also their inaugural 2007 World T20 squad.

He was one of the marquee signings for Royal Challengers Bangalore back in 2008 but then destiny intervened and ruled him out of the tournament due to injury.

The New South Welshman could never get a chance to turn up in the IPL thereafter.

#1 Misbah ul Haq

<p>

Arguably the most successful captain to have led Pakistan, Misbah ul Haq was an understated legend of Pakistan cricket.

There were detractors pulling him down, but he kept responding with aplomb for the entire time he wore the Pakistan jersey.

However, not many people know that he was part of the RCB outfit back in 2008, but got to play only eight matches and was unable to churn out enough runs for the franchise to keep faith in him.

He could never make a comeback to the IPL after that!
