T20 cricket is all about striking massive sixes and plundering runs for fun. It is a batsman's game after all.

The IPL, being the ultimate T20 competition in the world, has witnessed some moments of breathtaking hitting from batsmen (and bowlers mind you), entertaining the crowds to no end.

Here, we take a look at five of the quickest innings in IPL history. In others words, five players with the highest strike rate in an innings.

Note: Only players who have scored at least 25 runs have been considered.

#5 AB de Villiers - 372.72

De Villiers comes in at #5 on this list courtesy his knock of 41 off just 11 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in IPL 2015. The South African struck 5 fours and 3 sixes in an attempt to get his side close to the 210 run target set by the visitors.

While de Villiers dispatched the bowlers to all parts of the ground, he did not receive any support from his teammates and RCB ended up short, losing the match by 18 runs.

#4 Balachandra Akhil - 385.71

Easily the most surprising name on the list, Balachandra Akhil played just 15 matches in his IPL career and this knock against the Deccan Chargers in IPL 2008 will be by far his best moment of the competition.

In a chase of 166, with his side, RCB, in a spot of bother, Akhil walked out and leathered the bowling from ball 1, notching 27 runs from just 7 balls with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Chamara Silva and Chaminda Vaas were treated with disdain and sent to all parts of the ground as Akhil helped RCB chase down the target with an over to spare.

#3 AB de Villiers - 387.50

RCB's AB de Villiers features on this list yet again and why not. He is easily one of the most destructive batsmen in the IPL.

In what is a game most remembered for Chris Gayle putting the Pune bowlers to the sword en route to the highest IPL score till date - 175 - de Villiers served as his partner in crime, plundering 31 runs off just 8 balls to propel RCB's total to 263.

Mr. 360 struck 3 fours and 3 sixes in his 8-ball stay, wowing Chinnaswamy with his pyrotechnics.

RCB eventually coasted to victory, restricting Pune to just 133.

#2 Albie Morkel - 400.00

Albie Morkel was one of Chennai's most valuable players in the initial few IPL seasons, contributing with both bat and ball. In a game against RCB in IPL 2012 at the Chidambaram Stadium, the South African struck a belligerent 28 off just 7 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes.

Chasing a mammoth 206 for victory, Chennai needed some momentum late in their innings after Du Plessis and Dhoni had got them close and Morkel provided them with that, hitting Virat Kohli for 28 runs in an over and helping Chennai to victory.

#1 Chris Morris - 422.22

A rather surprising name on the list, Chris Morris is the player with the highest strike rate in an IPL innings. Morris achieved the feat while playing for the Delhi Daredevils in a game against the Rising Pune Supergiant in IPL 2017.

Morris scored a whopping 38 runs off just 9 balls, with 3 sixes and 4 fours. Batting first, Morris helped swell Delhi's total to 205, after which they bowled out Pune, who were led by MS Dhoni, for just 108, winning the match by 97 runs.
