IPL: 5 players with the most number of Man of the Match awards 

The Indian Premier League has been a source of entertainment for all the cricket lovers across the globe. The past decade has seen several players standing up to their team's cause when the odds were against them and changing it in their favor.

Over the years, the league has been a spectator to several spectacular innings and terrific bowling spells which changed the tide of the match altogether. There have been quite a few players both Indian and Overseas who turned out to be quite the match winners.

#5 Rohit Sharma

The Hit-man started his IPL career with Deccan Chargers and moved to Mumbai Indians when the franchise bought him for $2 million in the IPL auction 2013. He went on to captain his side in the 6th season of the league and since then has led his team to 3 IPL titles wins.

The ferocity in batting has not only earned him the nickname Hit-man but also seen him win 15 Man of the Match awards in 159 matches. Out of 15 MoM awards, 3 came while playing for the Deccan Chargers and 12 while playing for the Mumbai Indians.

#4 David Warner

When he gets going, he can single-handedly demolish any bowling attack. Warner started his IPL career with the Delhi Daredevils and later moved to the Sunrises Hyderabad franchises in the 2014 IPL auction. Ever since then he has lifted the team's spirit and has been a consistent run scorer, making to the list of the top run scorer every year.

Owing to his commitment to the team, he was named the captain in the 2015 edition and led his team to win the IPL title in 2016.

In his IPL career, he has won 15 Man of the Match awards in 114 matches out of which 5 came at the Delhi Daredevils and 10 came at the Sunrises Hyderabad. His consistent performance saw him get retained by the franchise this year.

#3 Yusuf Pathan

Known for his brutal hitting, this biggie started his IPL career under the Rajasthan Royals, where he scored the fastest half-century as well as the fastest century by any batsman in the IPL. His match-winning performances saw him getting sold for a whopping $2.1 million to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL auction 2011.

Pathan has won 16 MoM awards in 149 matches and this is the most number of MoM awards won by an Indian. Of the 16 MoM awards won, he won it 9 times while playing for the Rajasthan Royals and 7 times while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders.

#2 AB de Villiers

The flexibility of his shots across the ground and the athleticism in the field has earned him several titles like ABCDE(AB Can Do Everything), Mr 360. With the range of shots he has in his arsenal, the cricket ground becomes a golf park when it's his day.

He has won 16 Man of the Match awards in 129 matches. While playing for the Delhi Daredevils he won it just 2 times, but ever since he moved to RCB he has won it 14 times.

#1 Chris Gayle

The Universe Boss is the player with the most man of the match awards by any player in the IPL. Having smashed the ball for an uncountable number of times out of the park, the Boss has the fastest IPL century to his name and is the only player who has reached the milestone of 10,000 T20 runs.

He has notched 18 Man of the Match awards in just 101 matches. While playing for the RCB he won 17 MoM awards in contrast to his tenure in KKR where he won only 1.
