With 31 wickets in 16 ODIs and 48 wickets in 17 innings of Tests this year, Pat Cummins has been phenomenal for Australia in 2019. He has featured regularly in all formats for the Aussies, with him being perfectly able to bowl good-lengths and bouncers that make him a destructive bowler.

Pat Cummins can bowl well in the death overs as well as with the new ball. Chennai Super Kings lacked a bowler of such caliber last year, as Cummins could perfectly fit into the role. While Lungi Ngidi could return to the Chennai-based franchise, the addition of Cummins would help the team to clinch early wickets and reduce the opposition's score.

KKR splurged an enormous amount of ₹9.4 crores on Mitchell Starc last year, but he has mostly been an injury-prone. With Cummins having the experience of bowling well in Indian conditions, KKR could also buy a mentor for the younger bowlers like Prasidh Krishna and Kamlesh Nagarkoti in Pat Cummins.

The likes of Mitchell Starc and Sam Curran are expected to go expensive in this year's auction. A valuable addition of Pat Cummins for either CSK or KKR could help them build a decent bowling line-up for 2020.
