R Sai Kishore was the leading wicket-taker in the recently concluded Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He got 20 wickets in 12 matches at an average of 10.4 and strike rate of 13.4.

But more than his average and strike rate, it was his economy rate which caught everyone's eye. He went at a rate of just 4.63 runs per over, which is extremely rare in T20 cricket.

Prior to his Syed Mushtaq Ali exploits, Sai Kishore also sparkled in the TNPL.

There is no mystery about Sai Kishore’s bowling. He is a conventional left-arm spinner, but generates an extra bit of bounce. Moreover, the channel that he bowls in is impeccable; Sai Kishore is always chipping away at that nagging three-quarter length, and doesn’t give the batsmen anything to work with.

Because of his height, it’s not easy for the batsmen to come down the pitch against him either. If you have to hit boundaries against Sai Kishore, you have to play low percentage shots - which give him the chance to take wickets.
