The Sri Lankan all-rounder is a devastating T20 player when he gets going. He has a rare distinction of playing for 5 different franchises in 5 consecutive years (2010-2014).

Perera was a part of the Chennai Super Kings in 2010 and the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. He joined the Mumbai Indians in 2012 and was sacked after one season. In 2013, he found himself with the Sunrisers Hyderabad in their maiden season, but the franchise decided not to continue with him.

He then joined the Kings XI Punjab for a couple of seasons (2014 and 2015) following which he was picked up by the Rising Pune Supergiant. Due to his lackluster performances, he did not find any bidders in 2017 or this year as well.
