Not surprisingly, former India captain and Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni tops the list. With Dhoni in charge, CSK have lifted the IPL trophy thrice -- in 2010, 2011 and 2018. The last win saw CSK make a triumphant return to the tournament after serving a two-year suspension.

Under Dhoni, CSK have achieved some incredible feats. They are the only franchise in IPL history to make it to the playoffs every time they have featured in the tournament. Also, they hold the record for having made the most IPL finals - 8. It is another matter though that they ended up losing five of the summit clashes.

Looking at his performance in CSK’s winning years, Dhoni scored 287 runs in 13 games to go with five catches and six stumpings in 2010, and 392 runs in 16 games in 2011, apart from five catches and as many stumpings. In 2018, Dhoni contributed 455 runs in 16 games along with 11 catches and three stumpings.

Dhoni also briefly captained Rising Pune Supergiant when CSK were suspended. He has played 174 games as captain, and has the best win percentage of 60.11 with 104 victories and 69 losses.
