Kumar Sangakkara

Sri Lanka's legend Kumar Sangakkara played just 9 matches for Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural edition and scored 320 runs at a decent average of 35.56 at a superb strike rate of 161.62. In Punjab's maiden IPL match, Sangakkara put on a partnership of 55 runs of just 27 balls with James Hopes for the second wicket and scored 54 runs off just 33 balls by hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Kumar Sangakkara played for Sri Lanka from 2000 to 2015 and retired from international cricket with more than 27,500 runs in all the 3 formats of the game, apart from taking more than 600 catches as a wicketkeeper. Kumar Sangakkara is widely regarded by many cricket pundits as the greatest batsmen to have ever played for Sri Lanka in the history of International Cricket.

In IPL apart from Kings XI Punjab, Sangakkara also played for now-defunct Deccan Chargers from 2011 to 2012 and Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013. Currently, Sangakkara is busy playing in T20 leagues worldwide such as Pakistan Super League, Carribean Premier League, and Big Bash League.

#4 Yuvraj Singh (Captain)

Yuvraj Singh

Indian batsman Yuvraj Singh is currently the only player in the world to have won ICC U-19 World Cup, ICC T20 World Cup, and an ICC ODI World Cup. Yuvraj was also the Man of the Tournament in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 in which he played despite being diagnosed with cancer.

He was one of the top performers at the ICC T20 World Cup 2007, with the highlight of that tournament being him smashing England's Stuart Broad for 6 sixes in an over.

Yuvraj was captain of the Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural edition of IPL and scored 299 runs in 15 matches at an average of 23 and a strike rate of 162.50. In Punjab's inaugural IPL match, Yuvraj a scored quickfire 23 runs off just 13 balls by hitting one four and 2 sixes, and was dismissed by Joginder Sharma in the 15th over of Punjab's chase.

Yuvraj made his debut for India in October 2000 against Kenya in an ODI match and was an integral cog of the Indian team in the limited overs format from 2000 to 2011. After ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Yuvraj successfully underwent chemotherapy in the USA, due to which he was out of Indian team until September 2012.

Since his return in September 2012, Yuvraj has struggled to find a permanent place in Indian team due to inconsistent performances and even missed the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 because of poor form, and last played for India in June 2017 against West Indies.

In IPL, Yuvraj has so far played for six IPL franchises and is back with the Kings XI Punjab for this year's IPL, after a long gap of eight years.
