#2. Lowest team score in the IPL - 49 all out

RCB was all out for only 49 against KKR

Not a record that any team wants on its name but Royal Challengers Bangalore will have to bear the brunt until some other side folds up for less than 49 runs. It was a collapse of monumental proportions that saw a team possessing batsmen like Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Kedar Jadhav score just 49 runs in total. The very debacle made RCB a butt of all jokes.

This was the 27th league match of the 2017 season. RCB were up against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens. Spinners from RCB managed to skittle KKR for only 131 runs in 19.3 overs. Gayle and Kohli commenced the chase for RCB.

Australian pacer Nathan Coulter-Nile sent back Kohli on the first ball that the batsman faced. He subsequently dismissed AB de Villiers to reduce RCB to 12/3. Gayle’s dogged resistance came to an end at 40/5 and the team was soon bundled up for 49.

In a surprise move, RCB next year purchased all the KKR bowlers involved (Chris Woakes, Umesh Yadav, Colin de Grandhomme and Nathan Coulter-Nile). 49 remains the lowest total in the IPL. No RCB batsman recorded double figures in the inning, which is also a unique occurrence.
