Sunrisers Hyderabad were the winners of IPL 2016.

Sunrisers Hyderabad replaced former champions Deccan Chargers in IPL 2013, due to termination of Deccan Chargers franchise by IPL governing council for breaching contract terms.

Since their debut in IPL 2013, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have won the IPL Trophy once in 2016, apart from having qualified for playoffs in 2013 and 2017 and are one of the favorites to lift the IPL Trophy this year.

Sunrisers Hyderabad had a fairly decent IPL 2013 and finished at 4th place after losing the eliminator to Rajasthan Royals.

Sunrisers Hyderabad played their maiden IPL match against now-defunct Pune Warriors India on 5 April 2013 and won the match by 22 runs in a low-scoring encounter.

Currently, none of the 11 players who took the field for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their maiden IPL encounter, are now part of Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise.

So, let us look at the playing XI of Sunrisers Hyderabad, which took the field in their maiden IPL encounter against Pune Warriors India:

#1 Akshath Reddy

Hyderabad batsman, Akshath Reddy was a member of India's U-19 World Cup team in 2010, and opened the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their maiden IPL match, along with Parthiv Patel and scored 27 runs off 30 balls. Overall in IPL 2013, Akshath Reddy played just 7 matches and scored 91 at a poor average and strike rate of 13 and 90.09 respectively.

Akshath Reddy played IPL from 2012-2013, for now, defunct Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad, thereby playing his last IPL match in May 2013 against Mumbai Indians.

Currently, Akshath Reddy plays for Hyderabad in the domestic circuit.

#2 Parthiv Patel (WK)

The Journeyman of IPL, Parthiv Patel played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2013 and scored 19 runs off 18 balls in Sunrisers Hyderabad's maiden IPL match against Pune Warriors India. Overall in IPL 2013, Parthiv scored 294 runs in 13 matches at an average of 22.61 and at a strike rate 115.29.

Parthiv Patel made his debut for India in 2002 against England and is currently the second choice wicketkeeper for India in test matches. In IPL, Parthiv Patel has so far played for 6 IPL franchises and will turn out for RCB in this year's IPL.
